Sexy sounds currently trickling down our earholes.
We updated our personally curated playlist and will continue to do so every week until weāre dead! Lot of our favorites we listen to on the road and for inspiration when we write our own stuff. Enjoy :)
Hello all and welcome to what promises to possibly be maybe the best thing that has ever happened to the internet! Whether you know who we are or not, weāve decided to start this Tumblr in an effort to give a glimpse into the unique life of being a musician. No, this wonāt be like the documentaries and stories youāve seen before about sex, drugs, and rock and roll. We are going to focus our behind the scenes life, especially the food.
Weāve noticed throughout the last 4 years of being a band that most of our friends and family are curious about what we are up to when not on stage or other aspects of the shows themselves. Obviously, the thrill of the show is what we live for, but thereās so much else involved.
When we tour, write, and rehearse, there is always an element of food and cooking thrown into the mix. Our producer Alex Jarvis (recent Grammy winner!) is originally from Toronto where he spent his late teens learning to cook in restaurants. Between Alex and our singer Elliot who also loves to cook, we tend to eat very well, even under odd circumstances.
So, throughout these posts, we will show you how we cook at parks across the country, shop in random markets or buy roadside produce with cash, and of course, play shows at amazing venues and festivals around the world. Youāll see us writing, recording demos, traveling, rehearsing, etc.
Letās get to itā¦hereās what weāve been up to the last couple of weeks! The second album is mastered, and we are in the stages of deciding a release date and planning our attack! Naturally, we decided to start writing again, back at the cabin of our managerās long time friend. Heās the man and allows us to go an hour east of Nashville to write in the woods at his fantastic home away from home.

Hereās the room we make our setup in at the beginning of the week. Weāve made this excursion a handful of times and wrote almost all of our upcoming LP release here. Over the course of 2018 we will be writing all of our new music here, already got a couple in the bag from this particular trip that we are really excited for.
Elliot getting everything dialed in. Elliot went to college for audio engineering in Lexington, KY, and engineered the tracking of our first record Horizon Line in our old basement studio. Between Elliot and Jarvis, we have quite the duo of knob-turning creativity.
G on his Ludwig kit with Paiste cymbals. Last year Gianni was sponsored by Paiste, and we are all so proud to represent an amazing brand every time we play and record.
Austinās lovely combo of Fender Deville and Princeton, they bring the crunchy.
Our Moog Sub Phatty and Roland System 8ā¦with a view! Jarvis plays these and a few other toys on stage. Along with Jarvyās creative direction, these keys have opened up a more mature, smooth sound for us that youāll definitely notice on the upcoming record and our live shows.
Our incredibly talented friend Guthrie Brown came out to write with us. He is also featured on our upcoming LP, and if you havenāt checked out his music, you definitely should.
Hereās some foodā¦
Top left to bottom right:
Homemade bread. Jarvis whipped up some hot loaves a couple times on the excursion.
Grilled cheese with cheddar and homemade tomato soup
Beef Madras Curry with bhartha eggplant, homemade roti and basmati rice
We cook over the fire often. Usually whole chickens, roasted veggies and peppers, etc. This particular roll of meat was the best sounding open fire experience weāve had.
Pork Belly Porchetta with polenta, charred kale and chicken jus
Top: Pork Belly Shakshuka with poached eggs, fire roasted peppers and chiles, grilled porchetta, herbs
Bottom: Homemade Tortellini stuffed with braised beef shank, and Parmesan. Butter sauce
Elliotās dog Bird. He snores.
Austinās dog Hobo. He snores.
Austers will get your hair did
We got a little weird and competitively stacked potatoes one night. Guthrie, being a Montana man, took to stackinā like a squirrel takes to nuts. Heās single ladiesā¦thatās 4-high heās stackinā there.
Come out and see us live in February and March! We will make another post about those tour dates and the food associated. Canāt wait to get the van between the mustard & mayo and see you all. We love you!
