Snowdin

         what a lovely day to take a long, long nap. a well-deserved one too, since sans had managed to stay up all of the night before. it was snowing in snowdin, a tad harder than usual. nonetheless, sans simply laid on the couch, not giving a single care about the world around him. it was a peaceful day.

         …until someone knocked on the door. 

         he mumbles a ‘one sec,’ rolling off the couch and making his way slowly to the door. who walks around in a winter storm ? apparently, frisk did. when sans opened the door, he found them, shivering, with snow in their hair. he ushered them in quickly, dusting off the snow from their hair. 

* kiddo, why were you outside ? ? y'know tori made me promise to take care of you, right ?  * what will i tell her when she hears that you were in the storm by yourself ? i’d be dust where i stood, for sure.

Frisk shifted their weight foot-to-foot in an attempt to warm them self; Sans finally pulled open the door, taking in the shivering child in one quick glance before pulling them inside and out from the cold. A relieved smile and a breathy sigh let the skeleton know just how happy they were to be inside.

 Frisk laughed at the mention of Toriel and the accompanying mental image of a pile of dust with a signature smirk. In response, they pulled the oddly un-meltable (monsters, amirite?) chunk of snowman from their pocket, brushing lint off of it. 

❛ went back. ❜ they mumbled, raising their hands to show Sans the snowy lump more clearly.

   chara sunk backwards, a sob rising in their throat. they swallowed against the taste of bile starting to swish through their mouth. they shook the same as frisk was, staring down at them. why were they so persistent?

   ‘ i do want this. i do. i do. I WANT THIS, goddammit ! ’

   they weren’t sure if they were trying to persuade frisk or themself, in all honesty.

   ‘ it isn’t a dream. not completely. EVERYONE, all of these monsters, they ALL want freedom. they do !! and especially… especially me. more so… i want to destroy all those who — who hurt me. ’

   and god knows there are more than they can count of those.

 Frisk’s shoulders slumped with the effort of maintaining a defensive stance  — their body ached with exhaustion; and they allowed them self to relax, if only a little.

To say they weren’t afraid of Chara would be a lie — -  but, more than fear, they felt empathy & compassion. Frisk could see the confusion, hurt, PLEADING inside the others’ eyes.
