❝ sometimes you amaze me—i mean you always do. but you have such intuition and real wisdom about things. i like understanding the way you see the world. ❞ // Affectionate Starters, from Howl!
IDK THIS ASK IS FROM NOVEMBER 2023
Were he paying attention, Howl would see the slightest twitch of Yvaine's hands over their crossed arms. Their intuition and real wisdom came from centuries, hundreds of centuries, of learning the hard way. From trusting the wrong people, putting their faith in things that didn't deserve their faith. Their loyalty.
Yvaine had been standing atop a hill, overlooking the little town far beneath them. It reminded them of how quickly time passes, how soon the town will expand and grow, and Yvaine will witness it all. Just as they had countless other towns, other worlds. It was their duty, to write and record and experience. Maybe one could call it their curse. The scars across her face had been proof of all they've seen.
"My wisdom comes at a price." Was all they could mutter for the moment. It came at a price of pain, of loss. They were one more loss away from becoming a villain, of throwing their cares to the wind and losing themselves in their grief. All of this, yet they still see the good in people.
She sees how mankind loves, how it can everything negative and horrible about the world, but in the same moment be the very thing to remind Yvaine why she loves humanity. Why she's yet to turn their own back to the people. She sees how Howl carries himself, with seemingly no cares in the world and how he strums his guitar in his free time and is reminded of the good there is. It's grounding, if anything, seeing how others act day to day.
A soft sigh and Yvaine's shoulders drop, releasing some of the tension they carry. "Dusk is coming, I have to get dinner started." Their arms drop and the familiar turns back to the castle, brushing past Howl with a hand to his shoulder. "Maybe after I will let you ask more questions on my views on the world."
