When you talk to an officer, you say āsirā.
Ron Speirs.
SGT. Christenson: Yeah, and thereās another one about him giving cigarettes to twenty German POWās before killing āem. Ken Webb: He shot twenty POWās? Frank Perconte: Well, actually, I heard it was more like thirty.
āāAnd basically I have one message to all. Hang Tough. And I mean by saying Hanging Tough, do your best every day. Whether itās in school or at your job or wherever you are. Do your best every day. You donāt have to know all the answers, no way, donāt expect that of yourself, just do your best. Satisfy yourself, so at the end of the day, you can look in the mirror, after youāve brushed your teeth, and say honestly to yourself, today I did my best. And if you do that youāre being honest and everything is going to be okay.āĀ
I think I would have done a good job in any outfit, but Easy Company made me who I was. They brought out the best in me. If you had anything good in you, they brought it out. That is why as I look back over the six decades since the war, I find that as I meet, interact, and talk to literally thousands of people, I am always measuring them against and hoping to find men like these who served in Easy Company.

Band of Brothers: Favorite character (2):Ā Captain Ronald Speirs (Matthew Settle) ā
āWeāre all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think thereās still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that youāre already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner youāll be able to function as a soldierās supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.ā
He's my favorite, always :)
Band of Brothers: Favorite character (3):Ā Sgt. āWildā William J. Guarnere. (Frank John Hughes) ā
āOnce we get into combat, they only people you can trust is yourself and the fella next to you.ā
Band of Brothers: Favorite character (4):Ā Sgt. George Luz (Rick Gómez) ā
āSoldiers of the Regiment! Tonight is the night of nights. Today, as you read this, you are en route to the great adventure for which you have trained for over two years.ā
Band of Brothers: Favorite character (1):Ā Major Richard D. Winters (Damian Lewis) ā
āIf youāre a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones. You take the tough ones too. A good leader has to understand the people that are under him, understand their needs, their desires or how they think a little bit. He always made the right decisions along the way. He was a real soldier. Some of the officers⦠I donāt think Iād follow them into water. But he was one of the best. He went right in there and he didnāt⦠He never thought of not being first or sending somebody in his place. I donāt know how he survived⦠but he did.ā
āAs different in temperament as Nixon and I were, he was the one man to whom I could talk. He provided an outlet that allowed me to unburden myself as a combat leader. āNixā and I completely understood each other.āā Dick Winters
