“The video for Speculate portrays two juxtaposing characters at different points in their lives. The old lady's elegant nostalgia and the younger women's painful fragility outline two majorly contrasting forms of solitude.” - Freddie Dickson
Speculate EP is out April 13th via Columbia Records.
So much music is released every day and at times it can be easy for things to get overlooked. Freddie Dickson is an artist we implore you to not sleep on and we recommend you follow his every move because the raw power and drive his music embodies is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with and the only fitting space for the talented 20-something London artist is in the spotlight of a dimly light venue. His voice has the weight and power of fellow rock constituents like Mutemath and The Black Keys and his guitar twang is hauntingly piercing with every tense strum. It is with good reason his style, which he calls doom pop has received comparisons to Lana Del Rey and that he has sold out multiple shows and been picked up by top outlets like Vice, NME, and Line Of Best Fit to play one of their curated shows.
Today we have the honor of premiering his lead single “Speculate” off his third EP out April 13th via Columbia Records. Freddie presents himself in such a frail and vulnerable state with every howled crackle of his voice which stings effortlessly over the emotional wail of his guitar. Cymbals crash on every downbeat as unadulterated grit howls through the speakers. His sound is this single is pure, raw, disgruntled and unrelenting gold and a perfect prophecy for the inevitable fame his enigmatic sound exudes. For those across the pond be sure to catch him at one of his show dates in April and for us in the state we will wait patiently for him to grace our country with is brooding emotional rock n’ roll sounds.
Gary Crowley plays the best undiscovered, under the radar and unsigned music.

Second Lana comparison of the day, yet this one is spot on - meet Freddie Dickson, a London-based singer-songwriter that mesmerizes with his luring voice and a hazy instrumentation. The production on his debut single Shut Us Down is very alike of Lana’s typical dramatic lo-fi beats meet...
132. News by Freddie Dickson
I stumbled upon Freddie Dickson on a few “artists to watch” lists, so I decided to add his debut EP, News, to my queue. Upon first listen, I could already gauge that Freddie Dickson could definitely be a pop artist on the rise… he has a very accessible, kind of contemporary sound I’d compare to the Cinematic Orchestra, with a vocal rasp that I initially compared to Victoria LeGrand of Beach House… but then quite soon realized it was also reminiscent of Rod Stewart. Take that for contemporary.
Overall, News is a solid introduction from a new artist on the scene, though it seems he has yet to truly come into his own. While each of the four songs on the EP feel fully emotional, they don’t have a unique quality that sets them apart from other artists dwelling in the same, stripped down genre. However, I see a glimmer of hope in “Your Love Was Meant For Me,” which sounds very The National at times, but interchangeably with that aforementioned Rod Stewart.

Freddie Dickson returns with his latest Speculate, a passionate track with powerful vocals and melodies that captured our ears . It`s the title track of his upcoming EP being released April 13th. Have a listen to this one on his Soundcloud.
