Now that I’ve got this medal, it really feels like a real Olympic gold medal. I’ve won individual gold medals before but this feels completely different. To win a gold medal with my friends is something that makes me so happy.You can’t top what happened in Athens, but we’ve made our own history here. I think this is something that we can take into the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. This result will put pressure on the gymnasts who compete in the final in 2020, but there are many in Japan who can live up to that. Minor side note: if he’s in Saitama, that means he’s not appearing at the Nagasaki Shimbun awards today…? Maybe he’s had enough of the spotlight for now… Oops, I’m not thinking in Japan time!

Speaking of eccentric, this questionnaire of the Olympic team lists Kohei’s hobbies and special skills as

特技は、頭をカツラのように動かすことです。 服を早く畳む“速服たたみ”も得意です！

So, unless I’m mistaken, his special skills include folding clothes quickly, and moving his head (his scalp?) like a wig. :/
