Lenny, don't take it personally: what do you say to your critics who claim you stay too much in the slipstream and, above all, that you're not afraid of your reputation within the peloton? It's true that it's something that's said a lot, that we read a lot.

Honestly, in truth, I don't really care. I also see a lot of things said about Jonas and I don't really understand what people are saying sometimes. I don't agree with a lot of it either, like when people criticize Remco, Jonas, riders like that. So it's also possible that I don't agree with the comments about me, but I know that's normal. A lot of people have opinions, and that's that. When you watch TV, it's different; you're not racing, you know. And there you have it. I haven't met any of those people, I don't hate them, I simply don't always agree.

BRILLIANT.

1) the triple sticky bottle right in front of the cameras and the subsequent interview where he said that people were being “a bit petty” about it

2) winning a dauphiné stage by attacking enric mas while mas was distracted and taking a bottle of water from the neutral service motorbike

3) taking 0 pulls on alpe d’huez then cutting richie off in the sprint. and then saying oh well it’s not my problem if he’s annoyed and im literally one of the nicest riders in the peloton

4) catalunya this year when he basically just bullied lipowitz and wheelsucked to p2 on gc. one stage he rode 2km on a flat tyre and just sat on the wheel then won the sprint for bonus seconds because lipowitz can’t accelerate 😭😭

5) when a french tv show asked him about the criticism he gets for his rat tactics and he was like well i dont understand it and i dont get it when they criticise guys like jonas either. and then they asked him about jonas not pulling with him in paris-nice and he was like I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY HE DIDNT WORK WITH ME WHEN HES WON SO MUCH MORE THAN ME. MUST HAVE BEEN SCARED

OMG ANON YES I LOVE THIS ONE. right SO this year i’ve just gotten back into rugby after being out for a few years and my memory is pretty bad so we’ll just go for my favourites from this season:

1) bristol v bath, 21-19 to bristol

we were coming off the back of getting absolutely humiliated (beaten 94-33) and having our playoff hopes killed and then we had to play our local rivals who are better than us. very intense and stressful game but we came back from behind to beat them at home and it felt SO good. high drama with a carreras missed penalty at the end that could have won it for bath

2) bath v exeter, 26-27 to exeter

best hatewatch of my fucking life. local rivals who have been the second-best team all season absolutely botch their shot at making the finals thanks to carreras being unwilling to attempt a kick for the win DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE GOALPOSTS. what a man i owe him my life

3) argentina v england, 24-31 to england

we’d just been knocked out of the footy world cup and they show up wearing replica maradona 1986 shirts. about 15 fights and 7 yellow cards and went on 40 minutes longer than it should have but crucially we beat them. genuinely ridiculous game of rugby

4) italy v england, 23 - 18 to italy

now we lost this one but IM GLAD. we played like fucking ass this entire tournament and then we went to play italy who until this point had never beaten us before. and the entire english team was pissing me off so i was like you know what i hope we lose. AND WE DID and italy beat us in the first time in their history and it was all very romantic

5) bristol v vodacom bulls, 49-61 to bristol

comical game 😭😭 we had to go up to high altitude and heat to play a south african team and i thought we were fucked but somehow we did it. defence was optional, ridiculous number of tries scored, just a really really fun watch. we also scored four tries to earn a bonus point in 16 minutes which was a competition record LOL

so, paul is the first u20 in a top 5 in the tdf (since 1904, so essentially ever) and there's people out there criticising his performance 😭😭😭 and it was his first gt too lol

+ also, what he did today pulling fucking hard for kooij when he could have just chilled and had every right to do so on such a stage shows some people just want to hate on the kid when he's actually a pretty great teammate as well, and he didn't just pull once, no... he pulled every single time the team was approaching the climb, even if he was at his absolute limit

wellll ive only got one actually in the diary so we’ll do that one and then ones id like to go to

1) tour of britain men lincoln stage which is the one in my diary. wt riders on the cobbled climb of our best national calendar race YUM

2) paris-roubaix again because a) i had a blast in 2024 and b) i fucked up my arenberg photos that time so i want another go

3) strade bianche… early gravel sector + final climb would be awesome if it’s possible but i guess the climb gets packed early so idk if it’s doable. gravel sector would be so sick for photography

4) namur cx again because again i really enjoyed it last time and it’s a sick place to hold a race

5) tro-bro léon because the gravel sectors look really awesome. and you could pair it with gp du morbihan the day before if you wanted to
