Rest in peace, Sojin.
By now, most of you are aware that Sojin ended her life yesterday night... this post might be quite late, but I needed a few hours to recollect my thoughts.
Quite frankly, after watching the girls put so much effort towards debuting throughout the duration of Kara Project, it wasn't easy to cope with the harsh reality that Sojin's dream would not be coming into fruition. I followed the girls from episode one, but I never once imagined that Sojin must have been hiding so much pain behind her brilliant smile.
Whether her suicide is linked to the termination of her contract with DSP or the results of KARA Project is another discussion. We can speculate all we want, but only Sojin will ever know the true reason she took her life.. and since her family requested that she be sent of peacefully without further investigation, I hope others will be able to comply with their wishes. All I hope for is that this incident draws attention to the lack of aid available for those who suffer from depression; mental depression is still not treated as a legitimate health concern yet it takes millions of lives year after year.
Ahn Sojin, you will be missed. I hope you are in a better place now, one where you can sing and dance to your heart's content.
