So What Happened?
You know how to get an 'Original Shifter'? You become the bastard son of an Original Werewolf- Graham Lambert- and a psychic. You get the long life, the cool powers and hundreds of years to beef with your dad.
Like finds like, so when Grayson met Ayesha Shivdasani, he was instantly intrigued. They were like fire meets gasoline, tearing through the centuries together in one of the most iconic flings of our lifetime. Then one day, Grayson stopped showing up. Ayesha assumed he'd played the asshole card and bailed, but she was wrong.
It was 1970 when the McArthur Grandfather was recruited by the Institute to head up their Science division. Of course, 'science' is a broad term. It took 22 years for Grandpa McArthur to find out the true background of all shifters and more so, to confirm the existence of Original Shifters. Then his white whale... Tracking down and capturing one!
The year is 1987 when Grayson doesn't see it coming. He's kidnapped by the Institute and taken to the depths of their most secret, underground, HQ. Grayson is used primarily to perfect the Shifter Suppressant Serum (sourced from his very own blood!).
Grayson is also experimented on and tortured in other ways to discover his limits. Not his fave topic. To take a swipe back at Dr McArthur, Grayson catches a glimpse of Gia McArthur in a photo and shifts into her. Even when Grayson has the face of his own baby girl, this does not stop Dr McArthur from continuing the torture.
Out of bitter spite towards his now nemesis, Grayson stays in Gia's form indefinitely. He's been locked up for a long time, a fly on the wall of the Institute, watching as Big Bads were kidnapped and held in the Nevada Institute.
Grayson would, for a while, do what he was told. For example, torture others for information or torment them as other people, but the Institute knew if they ever tried to recruit Grayson officially and let him out... theyβd never see him again. They tried to chip him (like Charlie Emerson), but due to his changing shifter cells, it never worked. Grayson Lambert simply could not be controlled.
Years go by, Grayson dicks around in the Institute. He shifts around, snoops through computers, fooling their security systems every goddamn time. He could never quite get out out, but he could chill sometimes. Had a few hook-ups in the break room, made some pals, passed the time...
And then it's 2014 and in comes Vivian Vanderviere (notorious). He stays in Gia's form while they're in neighbouring cells. Grayson plays her like a violin-- she adores him as Gia so much that she ensures his eventual escape. Of course, they have to wait another 3 years before then.
April 2017-- the Institutes had gone to shit, but the top secret, underground, Nevada Institute remained even if there were only a couple of staff members left. Then in storms Ruby McReid and Verity Vandeviere to save the damn day. Vivian couldn't let Grayson-as-Gia rot in the cell, she made sure he got out as well. Laughably naive, no?
Grayson has stuck with Vivian for the time being, getting his bearings back on the outside in this world. How times have changed... He, however, is still a smarmy lil bitch who loves a good time! He's lived long enough to always be disappointed, but who knows? Havensdale might just surprise him if that dome ever comes down.
