This is a website for a positive community that has almost an all-female writing staff. They allow for submissions from readers on any topic that interests them. This site also produces opinion pieces with a decidedly feminist slant. Although it is not a particularly scholarly blog, it is a good place for popular culture information.
Third-Wave Feminism-Blog style: Feministing.com
This blog run by women and for women produces the highlight of feminist opinion on current events. It provides a “Feminist Cheat Sheet” to allow for someone on the go to be up to date on current feminist, gender, and trans media stories. In many ways, this website is delving into fourth-wave feminism and is on the front lines of opinion pieces.
Third-Wave Feminism-Blog style: Jezebel.com
This is a Gawker owned website that looks to produce stories for women. The tagline of this site is “Celebrity, Sex, Fashion for Women. Without Airbrushing.”. This site has more of a bent towards the idea of “friendly” aka non-aggressive feminism but it does produce some interesting ideas such as its question in years past of women writers on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. As a blog it is not without controversy and may serve best as a secondary source rather than a reliable primary source of cultural information.
Database Resources: Vogue Archive
This archive covers issues of Vogue from its beginning in 1892 to the present month’s issue. Vogue is a prominent fashion magazine and with the search results from this database, it may produce meaningful articles for research in projects. Along with being a fashion magazine it does also produce opinion pieces and interviews with people who were considered the most important at the time of the issue. The results are produced in high quality PDF, which allows for great accessibility and use in research.
Databse Resources: JSTOR
This oldie but goodie database is a Hail Mary pass but does produce some good results. Since it holds digitized items from different libraries it does a good job of having accessible primary sources at your fingertips. Due to the fact that the full-text is searchable it allows for relevant results for your research to be provided to you.
Database Resources: Historical Abstracts
This database allows for one to search different abstracts that come from publications that focus on world history from 1450 to present. The results from this are very good and produce relevant information for different popular feminist topics. On the other hand, these are just abstracts and although IU-Link is a great asset and can sometimes find the information you still may have to look in other databases.
Database Resources: Gender Watch
This Proquest database compiles its information from 175 publications. This compilation of articles focuses on how gender has impacted different aspects of the world and the changing landscape of current events. This database is great for easy searching and produces relevant articles from the publications. It also does a great job at suggesting different related search terms, which should be helpful with getting more articles pertaining to your research.
Database Resources: Gender Studies Database
This database covers the full scholarship of gender studies. The articles in this database run the gamut of concepts on gender studies. Since it is an EBSCO database, it is easy to use and similar to other databases you have used before. It does produce quality articles although the main focus of the database is providing citations.
Databse Resources: Women Writer’s Online
Women Writer’s Online contains the text of women writers from 1400-1850. This database is text searchable and does allow for one to pick categories and years. The timeline option allows for interaction with the different forms of text based upon their year of creation. The text that comes up in a sidebar so it can be hard to read at first but it allows for the other attributes of the text to come up.
Database Resources: The Women’s Wear Daily Archive
This archive contains scanned images of content from Women’s Wear Daily, a fashion trade magazine that is considered at the top of its class. This archive is super easy to use and the search bar allows for simple searching in a snap. Women’s Wear Daily Archive would be good to use for projects on popular culture or fashion.
Database Resources: Women and Social Movements International
This database holds primary resources on international women and their involvement in social movements in their own countries and around the world. This archive holds both primary published material and manuscript collections of women who were looking to change the face of their world. Much like the Women and Social Movements in the United States database there is a search bar but it is better to decide upon a category to browse and it produces a rich amount of material.
Database Resources: Godey’s Lady’s Book
This database is powered by Accessible Archives and are the back issues of Godey’s Lady’s Book. This periodical was the most popular one of its day (1830-1885) and produced articles on mindless things such as hair-dos and handcrafts but eventually turned into a periodical of substance with works by Harriett Beecher Stowe and Nathaniel Hawthorne. This database is a great way to get a peek at the lives and times of ladies in the 19th century.
Database Resources: Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1600-2000
This Alexander Street Press database holds information about women from the 17th century to the 2000s. It does a good job of allowing for searchable text and also allows you to break down search results by popular social movement categories for women, such as abortion, lesbianism, and economic discrimination. It also allows you to browse by people, documents, subjects, social movements, and archives. The best bet to use this database is to attempt to browse by topic since that seems to produce some incredibly helpful results.

This in-depth article looks to expand on the ideas of how Beyoncé’s feminism has changed from girl power to smashing the patriarchy.

Although it is a bit of a fluff piece it does have many different references to Beyoncé’s feminism and her desire to encourage women to take control of their power.
Women of Feminist Thought and Philosophy: Jessica Valenti
Valenti, J. (2010). The purity myth: How America's obsession with virginity is hurting young women. Berkeley, Calif.: Seal Press.
This book is quite possibly Valenti’s most powerful and noted piece of reporting. The book looks to shed light on the “virginity myth” in America that plagues young women. This myth looks to define women by their idea of “pure” versus being respected as individuals regardless of if they have had sex or not. This book is a building block on Full Frontal Feminism and looks to change the perception of how women are represented based upon an archaic idea.
