This is a website for a positive community that has almost an all-female writing staff. They allow for submissions from readers on any topic that interests them. This site also produces opinion pieces with a decidedly feminist slant.  Although it is not a particularly scholarly blog, it is a good place for popular culture information.

This blog run by women and for women produces the highlight of feminist opinion on current events. It provides a “Feminist Cheat Sheet” to allow for someone on the go to be up to date on current feminist, gender, and trans media stories. In many ways, this website is delving into fourth-wave feminism and is on the front lines of opinion pieces.

Third-Wave Feminism-Blog style: Jezebel.com

This is a Gawker owned website that looks to produce stories for women. The tagline of this site is “Celebrity, Sex, Fashion for Women. Without Airbrushing.”. This site has more of a bent towards the idea of “friendly” aka non-aggressive feminism but it does produce some interesting ideas such as its question in years past of women writers on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. As a blog it is not without controversy and may serve best as a secondary source rather than a reliable primary source of cultural information.

Database Resources: Vogue Archive

This archive covers issues of Vogue from its beginning in 1892 to the present month’s issue. Vogue is a prominent fashion magazine and with the search results from this database, it may produce meaningful articles for research in projects. Along with being a fashion magazine it does also produce opinion pieces and interviews with people who were considered the most important at the time of the issue. The results are produced in high quality PDF, which allows for great accessibility and use in research.

This oldie but goodie database is a Hail Mary pass but does produce some good results. Since it holds digitized items from different libraries it does a good job of having accessible primary sources at your fingertips. Due to the fact that the full-text is searchable it allows for relevant results for your research to be provided to you.

Database Resources: Historical Abstracts

This database allows for one to search different abstracts that come from publications that focus on world history from 1450 to present. The results from this are very good and produce relevant information for different popular feminist topics. On the other hand, these are just abstracts and although IU-Link is a great asset and can sometimes find the information you still may have to look in other databases.

Database Resources: Gender Watch

This Proquest database compiles its information from 175 publications. This compilation of articles focuses on how gender has impacted different aspects of the world and the changing landscape of current events. This database is great for easy searching and produces relevant articles from the publications. It also does a great job at suggesting different related search terms, which should be helpful with getting more articles pertaining to your research.

Database Resources: Gender Studies Database

This database covers the full scholarship of gender studies. The articles in this database run the gamut of concepts on gender studies. Since it is an EBSCO database, it is easy to use and similar to other databases you have used before. It does produce quality articles although the main focus of the database is providing citations.
