He didn’t know how, but Oliver was one lucky guy who managed to get the whole row to himself. It was weird considering that it was a flight to New York in the summer when everyone want to go be a tourist. Maybe it was the time of the flight but whatever it was there were no complaints on his end. After pressing the button to get a flight attendant attention, he chanting in his head so it was Gabby who came to him and not another flight attendant. When she came into sight, he was relieved and his lips twitched up into a smile. “Sir? Please, I’m not in my 40s yet.” He knew she was doing her job and he respected that but he also didn’t want her to treat him as if he was higher up than she was. “Think you could spare a few minutes? You see, I get a little anxious when flying and I could use the company.” He nudged his head to the empty seat next to him.
How she managed to get roped into having dinner with her ex-boyfriend, Gabby had no idea. It wasn’t that she hated Oliver; in fact, the two had broken things off rather amicably. But she just didn’t make it a point to spend a ton of time with her exes, preferring to remain at a comfortable distance from them, minimizing the risk of falling back into old habits. Admittedly, having a familiar face while she was away from home was nice, and eating dinner with someone else was more enjoyable than telling the hostess that she was a party of one. Gabby brought her glass up to her lips, taking a long sip of the wine Oliver had ordered. “Great choice, Schulz,” she commended him, as the waiter left to take their orders to the kitchen. “So... aside from apparently becoming a wine connoisseur, what have you been up to these last few years?”
