TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR GALE’S BIO: cancer and death of a loved one
(ages 0-14) the day dorothea michaels found out that the cancer that had plagued her body was finally defeated, she was told that she was carrying life. a child was growing inside of her – she believed him to be her little miracle, her second chance of life. gabe michaels was born on the 11th day of the 11th month and named on the 11th hour. he was gentle, and he was kind, he was always polite, and strangers thought him to be the quietest child that they had ever encountered. thea taught him everything she knew, how to read cards, and the stars, how to play the piano, and speak her native tongue. all of these things were gifts gale held close to his heart, talents he cherished and would continue to honour for the rest of his life. unfortunately, when he turned 9 years old, the cancer had come back, and just before his 10th birthday, his mother, thea passed away, leaving behind a hole that gabe, his older sister, and his father would no never be able to fill again. watching his mother grow sicker by the day made gabe an anxious boy, developing a stutter that lead him to the bullying of his peers. in the end, he decided it would be better if he didn’t say anything at all, so he became mute by choice.
(ages 14-21) to cope with the loss of his mother, and the painful isolation he felt due to his inability to speak around others, gabe set up a youtube channel and found an interest in athleticism. it was within this channel that he began to build a following, and eventually, he was able to build his confidence. it was easy for him to talk to a camera, and life wasn’t so lonely when you had the whole world at your fingertips.
Lala was definitely confident, nobody could deny that, but she understood that not everyone was like her, so if need be, she would play nice. Well, nice enough, Gabe was cute so of course she would flirt a little. She was in their room, just hanging out before she went to find some of her friends, she looked up at him as he spoke, flashing him a bright smile. “Thank you so much, you didn’t need to do that for me.” She said, looking at the two coffees and grabbing the one with the most sugar in it.
Pretty girls tended to have a sort of debilitating effect on Gabe, he liked to think himself dominant but truly it was only something that came naturally to him when he dated guys. Women? He’d happily let them walk all over him in a heartbeat. “It’s no big deal, the Starbucks downstairs was pretty quiet for once so I figured I’d grab us both something before the rush starts. You got much planned for the day?” Asks the other, attempting to make small talk -- it wasn’t his forte but he figured while they shared this room he could at least try.
Eloise could have waited for someone to go to breakfast with her, but she was starving and didn’t feel like waiting around for one of her cousins or friends to wake up. Plus, she had been making it her mission to leave before Alex either woke up or returned to the room. Sipping on her coffee, she smiled softly at Gabe. “Hey,” she knew it was probably difficult for him. To be friends with both her and Alex, best friends with Alex no less. “How’s it going? I feel like I haven’t seen you since…” Alex and I broke up. “Well, you know.”
Gabe was never going to pick sides when it came to Alex and Eloise, and Alex knew that from the start. He’d always liked her, even encouraged Alex to date her at the start of their relationship. Despite him having a small past with the other male, he’s always just wanted to see him happy, it wasn’t like anything had ever really happened between him and Alex. One kiss when they were teenagers doesn’t count. “I’ve been good, I got roped into joining my dad on one of his book tours so I went away for a little bit. Are you - well, is everything okay with you?”
WHERE - idk pick a place, they’re stuck
@gabebmichaels
lying on his back and daydreaming was keeping him entertained, but that lasted for about.. 5 minutes? and then alex was up again, because the only other thing louder than his own thoughts was the sound of gabe’s pacing around the room. he held himself up on the table he was sat on by using his arms’ support, watching gabe move from from side of the room to the other. “and i thought i was the impatient one.” he teases him with a grin, although alex should probably tell that gabe wasn’t one in the mood for playfulness right now. “you done marching around, general michaels?”
it was just like alex to ruin his chances like this, it was as if the guy didn’t like to see him talking to literally anyone that might have some kind of romantic interest in him. it was selfish, alex was selfish, and gabe had been putting up with it for years but now he was tired. “your not funny, alex.” gabe responds with a huff, not really in any mood for his games tonight. “you said it was an emergency.” gabe had come running, just as he always did when alex needed him, as he probably always would. at the time of said ‘emergency’ gabe had been getting to know the girl he’d met on the slopes earlier, and things were just about to get interesting when alex ruined the moment with his big mouth. “if i die alone it’s all your fault, morgan.”
he scoffs at him yet again, “as if i would subject myself to that. i know i would just wipe out and probably break an arm, so i’ll just stay cozy and high near this cabin.” he grins at him, watching as gabe inhales and then exhales the smoke – letting his eyes linger on a little too long. it was as if gabe looked even better in the snow, or maybe his arms just looked like they’d do a pretty good job at keeping someone warm. “what about you?”
when alex looks at him like that, gabe always finds himself wondering what it is that’s on his mind. why do his eyes linger too long? they were friends, just friends, and only that. “my cabin?” gabe asks with an arched brow, looking back to see where it was he was staying. he passes back the joint with a careful hum, pursing his lips together at the question posed. he can’t shake the feeling that there’s something unsaid between the two of them, but that tension has been there for as long as gabe can remember, he just chose to ignore it as best he could for the sake of his own sanity. “i’m getting used to the adrenaline rush, it’s pretty satisfying when you make it to the bottom. i don’t think i’ll be switching it up from boxing though, i have a bruise the size of texas on my ass now from when i ate shit earlier.”
Logan took a sip of his drink as the male sat down next to him and noticed the cigarettes. “No worries. I don’t smoke so you’re good… hence why I can’t offer you any replacements.” He waved him off and shrugged. “How are you finding the trip, Gabe?” Logan asked, wanting to make sure his friend was having fun.
He hadn’t done much else here apart from drink so far. He was lucky enough to have brought his fake ID with him in order to actually get served, not that his friends weren’t capable of sneaking him whatever he wanted. As far as the trip had gone, he’d only managed to get onto the slopes earlier that day. “I could have been happier with a surfboard -- but I won’t complain too much. At least I’m not prone to sunburn out there, just frost bite. You doin’ alright?”
gabriel wasn’t the most open when it came to new people, he didn’t really know where to start with a conversation. would his stutter come back? what if it did and the person laughed at him? his confidence really was not the best, and so every time lala passed, the best he could give her was a nervous smile. “i uh -” he motions to two cups of coffee on the side table and steps back quietly. “i didn’t know what you liked so i just got two different ones and i’ll take the one you don’t want.” he’s trying, at the very least he’s trying. everyone likes coffee, right?

where: dining hall??? cafeteria?? idk i’ve never been skiing i’m poor and british.
eloise and alex may have broken up, but that didn’t mean that gabe was going to pick sides. he knew just how difficult relationships could be, let alone one with his best friend. he hasn’t had a chance to speak to her since she’d ended things, and so when he spotted her at the table alone, he thought it would be a great opportunity for him to catch up and see how she was doing. “hey --” the redhead smiles, placing his coffee cup down up the surface in front of him as he slides into the seat next to her.
alex had had his eyes closed, a burning joint in between his fingers that was almost finished. at the mention of his room situation, alex throws his head back and lets out a small sigh. “you know, i’ve seen better roommates.” he shrugs, finally opening his eyes and landing them on gabe’s. “we’re both just trying to avoid the room at this point, so it hasn’t been horrible, to be honest. just… weird.” it brought up emotions in alex that he didn’t really wanna open up right now – not when he had a nice buzz going in his head. “i’m trying not to think about it, michaels, so ask me another question.” he grins at him, and points the joint over to him to see if he wanted to share.
it’s not unlike alex to keep his emotions bottled, he doesn’t open up often, gabe has learnt that the hard way. the only time alex has ever expressed anything to him was well, when he rejected him -- but gabe really didn’t want to dwell on that. he was over it now, that door was closed, and he was just happy to see alex happy, whenever that was and with whoever that was. he had learnt a long time ago that alex didn’t have that kind of interest in him beyond the kiss they shared as teens. “have you been skiing yet?” he asks, changing the subject while he balances the joint between two fingers after taking a long drag.

where: probably outdoors idk
they’d been best friends for over half a decade, and even if their past had been a little rocky for a while there, gabe and alex still managed to hold together some kind of relationship. the two of them moved on, alex did whatever the hell he liked and gabe kept to himself. sometimes he wished the guy wasn’t so god damn vocal about it but, it was what it was. “so the roommate situation....” he says, sparking up a conversation with the other knowing that alex was now sharing with his ex. “how are you feeling?” he hasn’t seen him for much of this trip, not really wanting to interrupt whatever drama it was alex morgan had going on in his life right now, he was a grown man, he could take care of himself -- most times.
Logan was enjoying his time without a child. Of course, he missed Margot a lot and being away from his daughter was difficult but at the same time, there was a sense of freedom. He could do what he wanted without having to worry about anything. He may have had quite a bit to drink and would count himself as at least tipsy when he walked outside to get some fresh air, still with a beer in his hand. “Hey, I didn’t think anyone would be out here.” He commented as his back leaned against the wall. @monarchstart
He’s never really seen Logan drunk before, so this is a first for him. It’s nice to see the guy relax a little, but he’s pretty sure that if he was a parent he’d be drinking himself stupid to numb out the pain of missing them himself. “I came out for a cigarette.” Gabe nods, reaching into his pockets to fish out a packet of crushed cigs that he must have accidentally sat on while skiing earlier. “Crap....whatever.” The redhead sighs, moving to take a seat next to him, attempting to fix one of the cigarettes with his fingers after pulling his gloves off with his teeth. “I’d offer you one but --” Gabe chuckles showing Logan the damage.
Ruby didn’t exactly own a lot of warm thermal clothes so maybe coming to a mountain in the middle of winter hadn’t been her smartest choice. She’d been outside for a total of an hour and was freezing which prompted her to come back in and sit in front of the fire in the lobby. “If you need me, I’ll be here.” She slumped her back against the seat and looked down at her phone.
“You came all the way here to the mountains to stare at your phone?” Gabe asks with a small grin on his face. It’s clear she didn’t come prepared, but Gabe had a couple of spare things lying around that he’d be more than happy to offer her. “Do you want to borrow something? I don’t have much that’ll fit you properly but it’ll give you at least some freedom to join in a snowball fight or something. Or at least go outside without losing all of your toes to frostbite.”
