One of the last items I produced for the Analogue class. With the stories ending changing drastically really close to the end of the course, I was tasked with coming up with just about anything that could serve as boards to aid in the creation of the 3D animatic before the deadline. In order to work out something quickly, I used sticky notes to sketch out a possible sequence for the ending
A handful of design refs I had made for the Analogue 3d artists!
These last few classes I’ve been incharge of boarding and reboarding quite a few sequences for the Analogue short to make sure they’re as solid as possible for the next leg of Analogue’s production. After getting feedback during class, I would take the boards home and spruce them up to make sure the story we were telling was a strong one! Bellow is a link to the PDFs of the sequences I have worked on.

Recently the class has been moving onto Analog an animated short centered around a figure drawing who is trying to rejoin his artist. I joined the environment design team. After coastal italy was picked to be the location, I helped out by doing research and drawing out more specific items and props for the environments. Here I researched anything from street lamps to windows!
This was a combined effort between me and another storyboard artist to make final tweaks to the london wharf sequence. Henry’s head is no long available and comedy was emphasized. We also tackled the window transition the visual development team wanted to see.
Here’s a large assortment of individual speed paintings I had made to serve as beat boards for the film Writer’s Block! A few of them have some changes when the tone of the film from the boarders became more light hearted!
The director of Writer’s Block wanted two board artist to explore and help finalize the staging and cuts for a sequence within the film. This version of the animatic I made is still using the idea of the writer, Henry, being a giant god like being in the sky. In the update we are working on, this idea has been scrapped but this animatic shows off some of the ideas I pitched for that initial concept! Moving forward I’ll be helping to finalize this sequence and potentially moving onto color passes and Boards for the film, Analog.
During class six we also started to dig deeper into the concept of Analog. In preparation for the class I had done some research into what a fun local would be for the film and brought in an image of italy. The class really enjoyed the idea so Analog is officially using Italy as a basis for the town in which Analog will take place! For class seven I had gathered all the research everyone had found and made a mood board for everyone in the class to reference. I also sketched up a few heavily stylized character designs using some of the other’s character passes as a means to just explore an alternate style for the film. In the meantime I was chosen from the director of Writer’s Block to be one of the two storyboard artist that helped solidify one of the shots for the film!
An animatic update for sequence 1030 made for class 6!
Animatic for sequence 400!
Class 5! For this batch of work I continued to update the shot list as well as create Animatics. This video is for sequence 1030.
Class 4 beat boards! Outside of the shot list upkeep I had the opportunity to draw beat boards for Block.
Class 3
Finally got assigned a bit of beat boarding to do! I’ll be working on that most of tomorrow and in the meantime I’ve updated the shot list twice so far. Due to the script getting some overhauls to provide more opportunities for the Visual Effects class, it’s likely I’ll have to update the shot list at least one more time with new information. Either way some actual art should be happening here soon!
Class 2
So this last class was the one where we were allowed to volunteer for our official roles. I volunteered to be a story artist but I also took on the role of creating the shot list for the Block project. Over this weekend I will be continually updating it based on any new scripts I receive. As of now it’s a live docuement, but as we move forward it will eventually be locked down and used by all the people involved in the project. It’s a new responsibility but something I was eager to try!
Class 1
So! Today was the first day of my new collaboration class! I’ve done a few other projects through scad although this one is promising to be the most involved in the preproduction process. I applied to be a part of the project as a story artist and color scripter but I might end up helping in others areas if needed.
Today was the introduction of the story concepts for the films we will be helping to make. I participated in giving a few suggestions to the writer team about their scripts. Both stories felt really promising but it definitely seems like we will be doing a lot of tweaks and researching in the coming days to finalize ideas! I’ll be looking into finding reference materials in between classes.
