Carelessness is not an alibi.

Psychological abuse: "A form of abuse, characterized by a person subjecting, or exposing, another person to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder." (Wikipedia) In the worst cases, it can lead to suicide.

Many times we find ourselves listening to common phrases that seem not so offensive, which nevertheless hurt us or make us very uncomfortable. This type of violence is very common against people of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Undervalued but extremely invasive, it is used in a subtle way, sometimes disguised as disingenuous or loving advice. In most cases the "perpetrators" are the closest people, such as family members, friends or colleagues. Some people may not consider themselves homophobic, or may even think they are guilty of excessive understanding and cordiality in asking questions of an intimate nature. They may also present questions or statements without any logical basis.

"Weigh your words" wants to arouse more sensitivity and invite everyone to use empathy, which seems to be slowly disappearing in a society in which hatred is in everyday life.
