But if the pizza man truly loves the babysitter, why does he keep slapping her rear?

That sounds an awful lot like you were watching porn.
The Same Rain || Gail & Rory
rory-austerfeld:
"Uh, yeah." Rory took a few steps forward awkwardly. He extended his arm, hoping she would take the package and he could leave. He hated being in other people’s rooms. It was awkward, and there was a smell to it. In this girl’s-Gail’s- room, it was of a perfume. He felt the sudden pang of desire to be normal. For once, to be able to function and talk with people without fear of snapping.
"That’s um, what came in the mail. I think it’s from Amazon." Rory said, his arm swinging down as she took the box from him. "So uh, I’m just going to um, go." He took a few steps back, hoping that leaving would relieve his frustration with himself and the building he was practically imprisoned in. "Enjoy the uh, the reading."
After taking the book from his hands, she studied the package awkawardly, desperately thinking of what to say to crack the ice. Gail wasn't necessarily a social butterfly, but talking with people was usually easy. Smile a little, make a joke, maybe, and that was that. Prolonged silences and awkward hand gestures made her anxious. "I, uh, thanks!" she said, finally. Her own voice sounded weird to her, overly excited for no reason. Idiot. She gave Rory a smile and glanced at the package again, "This is probably the chemistry textbook."
Watching him retreat as if she was a wild animal ready to attack made half of her want to laugh. The other half couldn't bear thinking that six months in a mental hospital was making people be afraid of her. "I-I'm sorry, I'm... Nostalgic, yeah, that's the word. Blue. Whatever," she murmured mostly to herself, almost rolling her eyes at her useless rambling. Stop talking, he doesn't care. She extended her hand with an apologetic shrug, "Hi, I'm Gail. Thanks for bringing the package. Again."
The Same Rain || Gail & Rory
rory-austerfeld:
Rory tried to make friends. He had attempted to meet new people and crawl out of the antisocial hole he had made for himself in the past. But everything people did annoyed him. There was no point in trying to make friends with people who would send him off the deep end again. They weren’t intelligent. There was no possibility for a conversation that didn’t revolve around drugs or sex. As a result, he started sitting in one of the therapist’s office who had excellent books and didn’t ask any questions. No interrogation or pressure.
When the therapist asked him to do a favor, Rory shrugged and nodded. 19 years old and already waiting for death. Not that he was suicidal- he was angry. Angry and bitter with all the years of his life wasted. It was just a package, and judging by the weight, a school textbook. Addressed to a Gail Bernath. He wasn’t expecting anyone to be reading books like that, or anyone except for him.
Rory knocked three times on the closed door. After calling out her name twice, Rory opened the door and entered the room. “I have a package for you…?” He asked awkwardly, looking at the girl that was by the window. Another weird person, perhaps. Either way, he wanted to get in and get out. She looked so hurt, though. Stop it, you’re not here to help anyone but yourself. “I’ll just uh, leave it here.”
Was it really that hard to leave someone alone when they asked to be left alone? With a groan, Gail reluctantly turned away from the window, her lips tugged downwards in a small frown. Whatever rude remark was about to leave her mouth was put to a halt, however. She didn't know this person and that was odd. She was rarely approached by people she didn't know. Well, patients she didn't know; goodness knew that medical staff she'd never even seen before questioned, poked, and proded her nearly on a daily basis. Patients, on the other hand — and this guy, judging by the lack of uniform and patronizing smile, was definitely a patient — rarely approached her unless they knew each other.
She blinked in confusion, her eyes looking the rather meek looking boy up and down. She hadn't really heard what he'd said after calling her name, but the package in his hands gave him at least some reason to be here. "That for me?" she asked awkwardly, looking down to the book on her lap, picking it up with care and straightening her bookmark before closing it. She glanced at the boy again from the corner of her eye. Ugh. She just wanted to be alone.
The Same Rain || Gail & _____
It was cold that morning, yet Gail still sat on the wide windowsill, her side touching the chilly glass and goose bumps forming on her arms despite her long sleeve shirt and the soft blanket draped around her small form. A book was balancing on her knees, a fluorescent bookmark tucked into a page close to the middle, but she seemed to have forgotten about it. The mug by her feet was being ignored, too, the aroma of coffee – it was good coffee; someone had remembered to stock up on the good mixture – filling her room, leaving through the open door.
It was 9 AM and it was raining.
Gail was gazing out the window, her eyes following the droplets that softly hit the glass. It wasn’t just raining; it was that special kind of rain, the drizzle that was barely there, invisible unless the light hit it. It had rained just like that the last time she’d seen him, the last time Gail Bernath spoke to Elliot Waits, the last time he’d kissed her, the last time they held each other — but, really, it wasn’t that that was making her sad. No, it was the damned rain that just had to be the same rain, only at a different day and hour and the same jazz music playing from the corner of her room.
It was the same rain and the same music and how could she possibly study when every little thing screamed ‘Elliot’ at her? How could she possibly be expected to read about civil wars and dead presidents when all she could think about were bloody lips and kisses that tasted faintly of iron? And why, in the name of all that was sacred, couldn’t she stop thinking about the clinically diagnosed psychopath that killed, bruised, terrorized and was proud about it?
Someone was calling her name, but between the rain, the music, and the grey eyes she could still picture perfectly, as if he was just outside that same window staring at her, she ignored that, too. Truth be told, she didn’t care enough to deal with anyone else, not now. Her head dropped heavily against the glass, producing a ‘thud’. “Go away,” she muttered, not sure if she’d said it loud enough to reach the intruder’s ears. It was the stupid rain’s fault.

Woah. College. I’m sure you’ll do great.
Thanks, Ran. That means a lot.
Do you miss Elliot?
I’m glad he’s not here anymore. No.
It scares me how much I miss him. It really does.
Who are your friends here?
All of the therapists. All of them. I love how patronizing they are. Oh, there was also Piper. Yes, she was the closest I had to a friend among the crazies—she didn’t annoy me in the slightest. Other than that, no one.
Katherine. Lorelei, I guess, but she’s more than a friend. Trevor and Polly, Lily, Janey, Miranda… Indiana, Mavis? Seb—Bastian, that is, and Alex, of couse, can’t forget those two. I’ve never had more then three people at one place that I considered friends, before, actually. It’s weird. But nice, too, I suppose.
Anti-honesty hour. Ask me anything and I will respond with blatant lies.
Or day. Just send something at any point. This should be fun.
Please?

[ Lorelei’s nerves loosened, and she sighed in relief as Gail comfort her gently. She looked at her when she mentioned the wine. She swallowed, and nodded, a small, weak smile creeping onto her lips. ] You know me too well.
[The grin that spread on Gail's lips might've been a little forced, but it was in no way fake. She felt her shoulders loose some of their tension in relief] Of course I do, we used to share a room. Do you still snore? [She grabbed Lorelei's hand, squeezing it tightly, and lead her down the corridor to her room.]

There are days where I feel happy that I was forced to drop out of high school. Today is one of those days.
I'm studying to take my GED. I found out that my, uh, my father left me money, and...you know. College seems actually doable now.
