I want to take a second to talk about Daniela Núñez.

I feel like Dani had such a lonely childhood, she needed to be this self-sufficient kid who was never heard or really cared for, especially after her mom died so when she grow up she forgot how to express her feelings, so she kept them in a box. She is so used to fix things by herself that she forgot that its okay to search for help and be vulnerable and then Gigi comes into her life letting her know that she is there to hold her.

I feel like a person like Gigi is someone who changes your whole life for the better, who helps you become a better human. Believe me when I tell you that we're going to see a better version of Dani (I hope we get a season 3).

Gigi is showing Dani that all her layers are worth of love. What a beautiful thing is to build a better version of yourself surrounded by love and understanding.

I'm sorry but that hug officially become my favorite Gini moment, the way Dani took that deep breath, that was her letting her walls down and feeling safe.

JUST LOOK AT THEM.

Unacceptable things Harper did in Happiest Season that makes me be team Riley :

1. What she did to Riley when they were young

2. Letting Abby alone all the fucking time when she didn't know anyone

3. Saying she's feeling suffocated and "needs some space" when actually Abby was trying her best and everybody was treating her with indiference. A little reminder SHE'S THE ONE WHO INVITED ABBY OVER.

4. The several (and unnecessary) times she stayed with Connor, giving him all the attention while Abby was just there alone and feeling out of place

5. Even if Abby wasn't her girlfriend, if she was just a friend, how can she treat a guest with such disregard!!! She went out without her, left her out when she had to do her stuff...

6. Telling Abby she was still in the closet and that she'd have to pretend being straight ON THE WAY TO HER PARENTS HOUSE. She didn't even give her the option to decline. The problem wasn't being in the closet, that happens and it's ok, but telling Abby when they were going to the place is bad.

Why “Stateless” is an uncomfortable but utterly necessary viewing experience

And not just because the story is partly based on true events - in 2004 there really was an Australian air hostess who was wrongfully locked up in a so called UNC detention center. But if you don’t come away from this show having realised that EVERYONE in there was wrongfully locked up, you are part of the very problem the series is addressing.

What made watching this even more painful was the scene where Javad approaches Sofie and tells her that “people will listen to you because you look like them, you could be our voice”. He KNOWS that her story and her pain will matter more to anyone who hears it than any other UNC’s, because at the end of the day, they care more about the problems of a white person who willingly walked into a prison than it does about those of the people whose only hope in life is to leave that place.

I don’t know how if any of the UNC’s backstories were based on real events as well, but the thing is: they very well may have been. It is devastating to think about what refugees have to endure, to sacrifice for even the slightest chance at a better life and when they come to our countries, where, all things considered, life is pretty fucking great for a large number of people - at least in comparison, we turn our backs on them and just leave them to rot in those camps.

Maybe 2020 is exactly what we deserve.
