Berrykind has been spread across the galaxy for 2473 years, following a universe-altering event referred to as the Separation. Berries had lived in relative harmony on Earth for generations, but as their home planetās resources began to dwindle and their population became dense, a harrowing tone was set: Something must be done in order to survive.
The Raw Berries started hoarding their technologies, and when the other Pure communities eventually caught wind of the fact, a race began. Suddenly, it was like times of old again: Every Berry for themselves. The Raw and Peach families were old money, and held stakes and influence in the resources they needed to begin an evacuation proper. All of the Berry Unionās efforts to create an undivided population were shattered with every new spaceship built, luxury pod reserved, and planet claimed.
The Separationās beginning date is often disputed, but no one can argue that 2473 years ago, on the 46th day of Theros, the first Raw colony departed Earth and never looked back. Pure communities celebrated this new dawn, tore down their old calendars and began counting the days anew in KatharĆ³s space. For them, it was a second chance at securing their coloursā heritage and vibrancy, without the meddling politics that sought to unite Berrykind.
It would not be remembered so fondly by all however. Mixed families were prevalent across Earth by this date, and as the Pure communities jetted off to safety with the planetās bounty in their pocketsā¦ they left millions of Berries scrambling for scraps. The Union did its best to hold everyone left together: clinging on to large companies who hadnāt yet been bought, protecting what resources remained from the hands of anarchy, and pumping all of their production in to an advanced space program of their own.
Eventually the masses did leave, and were forced further afield by the Pure colonies before them. Largely, the Mixed Berries tried to settle together and carry on where they had left off, but it was difficult. Resources were scarce and their planets were not nearly as lush. They also made a calendar change however, beginning from the date that the last Mixed colony departed Earth, making the date in MiktĆ³s space 2422 SFD.
As time progressed, and space technology with it, an entire system of Berries began exploration and expansion proper. Now, Berrykind covers an intricate sector in the galaxy, mingling with alien races and evolving to be as if they had been there all along.
