The bodies continued to pour in, blood spilling out across freshly bleached floors. Clean up crew was going to have fun with this one. There was only one spare bed left– lingering outside the main wing for whichever upcoming patient was unable to stand.
“Jesus Christ—-”
He took a brief sweep of the incoming patients, quick observations leading him to skip over the least vital of the bunch.
[[ S P O T T E D ]]
A recruit was on the floor, their hands sheepishly muddled in a small pool of their own blood. Chiron dropped to his knees, blocking out the chaos around him as he saw to his patient. He was in the zone, his training thrived off intensity.
“Somebody better tell me where our goddamn recruits are,” he spoke to no one in particular.
The screams are what resonate with her first.
The ear-splitting symphony of terror and panic immediately activates her inherent soldier mode. All previous tension fades away and is replaced with a stoic, almost robotic stance. For Galateia, this is a natural transition. It is the only way she could function with the most efficiency.
Rushing to the source of the noise, her boots track bloody prints across the barely-recognizably white floors. Bodies litter the room. Each person's face expressed the indications of fear, apprehension, and desperation yet the agent walks by unfazed.
— Finally, she spots a familiar face.
"We've lost communication with all Olympus personnel. Cell phone signal has dropped. We're in the dark, Chiron." she says sharply, handing the man a fresh set of bandages before dropping down to his level to examine the injured recruit.
“Eh, that’s alright, Gal. I think I’ll manage.”
“Oh, no, no. That won’t do. You don’t even know what it’s about!
{ … }
“Besides, what’s a lil’ movie between friends?”
“—Time that could be spent working...”
“Oh, I’m sure. Olympus loves me, after all.”
“Nothing too bad. Just a test here and there. S’not anything we couldn’t have done at this level.”
{ … }
“They’re a much softer bunch. Sometimes I forget.”
“Your vague answer is not exactly helping your case, Erebos. However, I have to agree — these children need to grow some backbone. Their lack thereof is going to get them killed.”

Please refrain from repeatedly asking me for the new Wi-Fi password– I did not change it. ‘Network connectivity issues’ means that the internet is down, not that I am tricking you.
“It wasn’t deliberately shut off? That’s disappointing. Nonetheless, whoever is responsible for this... I’d very much like to thank them.”
“Well for one, just say you’re undercover and something goes wrong so you’re trying to blend in like an average person. If you find someone with a pop culture reference or pass by some sort of shop, you talk to them because the media can provide great talking points. But for a forger like myself, just saying you know a celebrity or work for one can go along way when trying to crash an event or building. Having knowledge of the news around you keeps you connected to the normal people world and the spy world. The problem you seem to see is that us recruits are investing too much time in slacking off rather than train, which for some of them the end result will not be ideal. But that’s just my take on things.”
“I see your point. However, considering that I specialize in counterintelligence... pop culture references or opportunities to apply them rarely appear in my line of work.”
“Investing time in acquiring knowledge or skills is beneficial. However, it seems like most of you recruits watch these tv shows and movies more for entertainment purposes rather than for your occupation. Also, keeping connected to the world outside is not exactly the biggest benefit... I’ve seen agents crave for that so-called ‘normal’ life but as a part of this Initiative, one can never have that.”
“I know, I’m basically a genius. They might as well put me in charge of daily recruit activities outside of their specialty-specific training. I’ve got plenty of pledge-hazing ideas that I missed out on getting to do when I didn’t end up going to college.”
“Genius? You don’t exactly fit the description of genius. In fact, none of your characteristics can actually qualify you as a genius or as a suitable candidate to lead.”
“Zeus, this is not college— this is the Olympus Initiative, in case you have forgotten...”
“Well, kind of, yes. I mean I’m the genius in the room. Well, okay maybe not all are that pointless. but they’re definitely gonna continue sucking at their jobs for sure. Really, if the don’t change, wouldn’t be too surprised that they’d f a i l.
Yep, it’s computers mostly and a few other things…
“Genius? That’s debatable.
It’s quite disappointing to consider failure as the most probable conclusion to this task.
—Few other things... those being, what exactly?
“Best part’a the damn job, honestly. Unless it’s my recruit that fails. ‘Cuz if so, I’m gonna kick her fuckin’ ass.”
“Well, I’m quite lucky... Currently, I’m simply assisting with training rather than having to personally babysit my own recruit.”
“Nice euphemism. I’ve never been a fan of beating around the bush. I’ll call it what it is.”
“You kid now, but I assure you…..I was doing what was necessary.”
“I’m positive Olympus would appreciate your words of wisdom.”
“Sure, I was just kidding... —But now you’ve intrigued me, what have you been making these children do?”
“ It sure was implied.”
“ —uhhh. It’s—it’s the kinda thing you just know, y’know? Like, it’s the pound symbol? It became famous because of Twitter, but now it’s used everywhere. Kinda to emphasize shit? Okay, but— how do you not know this? This’d be the kinda stuff I’d have to explain to my grandfather if I knew where the fuck he is.”
“To be fair, there have been no stand outs from the pool of recruits so my concern is quite valid.”
“No. I do not know... nor have I had the luxury to indulge in this ‘pop culture knowledge’. Speaking of, your explanation might have brought about more confusion than help. But I doubt your efforts could ever remedy that. It’s a lost cause.”
“Where have you been?! Dude, I’ve gotta lend you the box set. You don’t know what you’ve been missing. Ah, next you’ll be saying you’ve never watched Game of Thrones.”
“Working. This ‘Game of Thrones’ nonsense is irrelevant to the Initiative. ...which is why it is irrelevant to me.”
“It’s possible, yes. Unfortunately, I don’t think the movies our recruits are watching are part of that particular list.“
{ … }
“You’ve never seen Radio? I’m….I’m in a shock. I can’t move my legs. I’m paralyzed. Gal! I have it under my bunk! You have to watch it with me.“
“Would you like me to apply pressure to your legs to see if your paralysis is actual?—
[ … ]
While I admire your... Errr- enthusiasm for a movie that you deem effective in ‘personality changes’... I’d prefer not to watch it. The offer is appreciated, though.
“We learn from the best.”
“Considering the circumstances... I seriously doubt you understand who ‘the best’ is.”
❝ He claimed this connection to the outside world helps ease their transition into the Initiative. Now whether he likes playing as the provider, or he legitimately deems this fit, is a matter of opinion. ❞
❝ Why would he want to soften the blow of the transition... Isn’t that quite counter-productive? These recruits should learn to live with the bare minimum and, by extension , with no attachment to the outside world. There’s a bigger risk that they would be lusting after a lifestyle they would never be able to have. In my opinion, no matter the reasoning, that’s quite cruel of Chronos.❞
