Just a note for anyone reading my fics:

I'm taking a break from AO3 for a while. Hopefully it's temporary, but writing has started to feel more like an obligation than something I enjoy.

Full transparency, the lack of engagement has been pretty discouraging. I know this is a niche fandom, but after a while, it's hard not to let that affect your motivation.

I don't say this to guilt anyone into commenting or reading. I just wanted to be honest about why I'm stepping away. Thank you to everyone who has been here along the way. Your support has meant more than you probably realize. I hope to come back when writing feels fun again.

It didn’t matter. He didn’t need Jackie to obey. He watched as Roger stumbled beside her, barely able to walk. She refused to let him fall.

There it was. The flaw in his thinking. He had spent all this time trying to control the person who refused to be controlled.

He didn’t need Jackie to become the weapon. He needed her  to become the reason the weapon fired. Because the moment Jackie was taken away…

Roger wouldn’t be fighting for himself anymore. He would be fighting for her.

And all Atlas had to do was make sure the only path back to Jackie led through him.

After a chance question shatters Atlas's control, Jackie and Roger are forced to flee from the man who brought them together. Hunted by Atlas's followers, pursued by Andrew Ryan's security, and trapped in a city tearing itself apart, the pair must rely on each other to survive.

“The truth doesn’t survive long in Rapture.” He rested a hand against the map. “But…” A faint smile crept across his face. “Lies have a way of keeping people alive.”
