First pic is my unusual "raccoon" tail which I'm thinking might be a tanuki. Second pic is it next to my ordinary raccoon tail. The fur textures are waaaay different
Salting pelts is a nightmare when you're trying to salt a fox on a tiny table and have to avoid getting any on the floor.
Todays taxidermy task was a huge female red fox, ive taken the liberty of naming her Evil Eye due to a nasty infected eye that caused major issues for her while she was alive.
GORE WARNING!!!! A large female raccoon i skinned, who had been destroying our trash is no longer terrorizing our yard. She kept outsmarting me but one night i caught her. No worries, it was quick and painless. She did not suffer at all, i never kill animals in a inhumane way. Her pelt will be salted next weekend. Update, reposted because i forgot to censor my face oops
Skinned the little fox tail today and hhhhhh never again will i skin a tail alone it is the most difficult task when theres no body keeping the base of it in place. And i had no help, i needed someone holding the bone but i managed on my own. Skinned the full tail, few holes and fleshed out good too. Very thin skin is difficult to work with amd it was shedding, and i panicked thinking it was slipping / rotten. But i figured it would be shedding sINCE ITS 105 DEGREES OUTSIDE WHERE I LIVE
Juvenile fox tail i scored today! Unfortunately the rest of the fox was mangled, skull broken and flies in it. This was the only salvageable part i could grab on such a hot day. Im freezing it to overnight and skinning it tomorrow. Just to kill off any insects i didnt see on it. It looked free of bugs but its always good to make sure before skinning it in the heat. I dont want it to slip either.
So i bought a second presumably female dragon, my tan one is male
My new baby aaahhhh! I know this isnt vulture culture related, but hey my lizard likes skulls too, just like me. His name is Drogon (game of thrones themed)
Its wabbit season! 🐰 My dad shot this big girl and said “here’s dinner” 😂
Fox
So i attempted to grab this roadkill red fox down my street and someone ran over its head in front of me... couldn't save anything after that so today was kinda disappointing. Ibwas so excited because it was fresh, but nope brains EVERYWHERE, i mean everywhere too
Tfw your dad tries to hit a fox on his way home from work cause he knows you collect dead shit
Me
The opossum is finally done and tanned! Super soft too!
Cute little muskrat i made friends with at the sanctuary. I though it was a tree stump, but then he began to move and wasn’t even afraid of me when i got close.
What a big old cutie he was. This 70 year old albino snapping turtle just kept swimming wherever i walked around his tank. But i bet he’s not such a softy outsife of his tank!
Had an amazing time at this sanctuary with the ethically sourced taxidermy here! Most of these fellas they said they once lived in the sanctuary and were sadly found dead on the site, near their road, or died of old age in captivity in the facility. Also, one of their lizards grew too big for its tank, so they gave it to us for free! I now have a tank for a lizard if i can get the funds. Also met a friendly muskrat friend on the trail.
Some deer by my house. The second looks to be pregnant, cant wait to see her little bambi babies!
