“fight, on… fight- ” At first, Mob thought it was an earthquake. The ground shuddered with small, unevenly spaced vibrations before picking up into one violent motion that knocked him back a pace. He felt the concrete scrape across the palms of his hands on impact. The sidewalk, the road, the trees in the surrounding area all darkened but there was no cloud in the sky. Instead, what he saw looked like a prehistoric giant, floating hundreds of feet above, and his heart gave a painful lurch in panic. His eyes widened. It was huge.

It took a few seconds before the boy realized it was suspended in midair by psychic power, the owner of which was floating along with it, appearing no bigger than a speck against an ocean of blue. Wiping a layer of sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, Mob squinted against the light to try to get a better look.

Tatsumaki had felt the inital rumblings of the monster’s arrival shortly before she’d gotten the call to deal with it.  She’d have probably gone to check out the issue on her own, but it was just as well that she be officially dispatched to take care of it.  It meant a bit more to her paycheck, after all, though that was only half the satisfaction.

The ugly thing had already smashed up some buildings by the time she arrived.  She’d just have to make sure it wouldn’t be able to touch them again.  Flying right into the eye of its destructive storm- floating in the air within a couple steps and a swatting arm of it- the raising of one arm saw it enveloped in a similar green aura to the one she herself wore.  Its startled cries echoed around the city as its feet left the ground, body writhing about in a desperate attempt to escape the hold that raised it higher and higher.

“Quit making a scene,” she snapped at the monster, more like an annoyed parent than a hero dealing with a threat to the people.  “You’ll just be spending your final moments embarrassing yourself.”  As if trying to get one last victory in, the monster threw two chunks of a large building it had been swinging around like a conductor possessed.  Though the pieces of the buildings sailed fast toward the city- one careening directly toward a certain middle schooler who’d stopped for a jogging break- it took less than a second for the momentum to come to a halt.  Both chunks of the building- now enveloped in the same green aura- shot back at the beast, striking into and crumbling against its body, forcing a pained roar from its throat.  From there, a twist of her hand sent the psychic energy around it swirling, tearing through monster flesh like wet tissue and utterly destroying the thing.

She hadn’t seemed to quite notice the young bystander at the time, though...nor did she notice, perhaps more unfortunately, the piece of the building that had broken loose before grabbed by her psychic grasp, and was now falling toward that same young man!

Headcanon abt OPM espers in relation to MP100 espers: 

While they seem to be widely different, I feel they can’t be too dissimilar as they’re the same base concept used in two works by the same author and that the huge variety in MP’s espers is due more to ONE getting a chance to explore the concept more widely than in OPM.  As a result, I’m of the belief that OPM espers’ powers, while not so spiritual in nature as some MP espers, would be able to work on spirits.  We just never see this happen because almost all the threats in OPM are physical rather than ethereal/spiritual. [Spoiler for an audio CD/the OPM webcomic below]

In a particular audio CD it’s revealed that Tatsu may be afraid of ghosts because her powers don’t work on them.  Now the ghost she tried to use her powers on turned out to be Saitama, who her powers don’t work on bc of his strong will, but there’s more to it. 

Headcanon 2: When held as a test subject/prisoner, Tatsu’d been subject to sleep deprivation and illness, which, gone untreated, can lead to hallucinations.  They were occasional for her, but at one point she saw ghosts around her.  She tried to attack them with her powers, but because they weren’t really there, they appeared unaffected.  The trauma caused by that experience made her believe truly that ghosts can’t be affected by her powers, causing mental blocks that would actually hamper her ability to fight against spirits in the case that she encountered them.  If these blocks could be removed somehow then she could overcome that difficulty and use her powers on them, but as it is, she can’t.

Not obvious, no, but the note of amusement on his expression doesn’t go unnoticed.  Whether he thought it was funny was of little concern to her- it wasn’t as though he was making any decisions that affected her.  She knew not about his previous experience with one who shared a similar arrogance as her, nor about that other himself.  Not that such knowledge would change her mind any.  Her self-assurance ensured that word of her power spread- that at least some of those who’d wish to destroy the world around them may be given pause in fear of her wrath.  And the others?

They made for fine warnings to the less foolish.

“You struck me as the type who would,” comes the reply, hardly apologetic for her assumption.  “In any case, just leave any trouble for me to deal with if I’m around, got it?”

“Seriously?  And they didn’t even bother to call me and confirm that before I got here?!  Typical- they can never tell me anything when it’s convenient!”  The aura around the esper intensifies.  “And you’re sure there’s nothing left for me to take care of?”
