A leather arm guard for archery that I finished last month. It's made from full grain, veg tanned saddle skirting, sourced from Tandy. D-rings and chicago screws are solid brass. Comes with full grain, veg tanned, 7-8 oz straps sized to order. This particular arm guard will use brass button studs on the straps instead of buckles, so putting it on and taking it off will be a cinch.
The arm guard is burnished with Tokonole and treated with beeswax and Chamberlain's Leather Milk Formula no.1.
I drew this as a tribute to AK earlier this year. I aimed to draw Mega Man as if AK had drawn him wearing his blue armor. I also drew the rest of the characters in a style reminiscent of Ishinomori. It is, in effect, a remake of the original Japanese box art for Mega Man 1.
All characters began as separate illustrations on paper, then I scanned them, threw them into photoshop, and did the rest there.
I recently finished making these Aspen arrows. I call them Blood Rose Snap Dragons.
Draw Length: 28"
Diameters: 9.5 mm fore end; 8.3 mm center; 12 mm aft end
Average Spine: 51#
Average Weight: 580 gr
Center of Gravity @ app. 15" from nock
Wood: Aspen
I named them Blood Rose Snapdragons because:
1. Blood for the paint job, using red oil-based wood stain;
2. Rose, for being inspired by the saddled-profile arrows recovered from the Mary Rose
3. Snap, for the action of the nocks to snap on to the string and stay on at full draw, even allowing for 4-below finger draw. I carved these meticulously into the shafts;
4. Dragon, for the modified japanese fletching cut.
Art by me.
