an Update...
I have beaten the Elite Four, received a Somewhat Impressive Villa, tottered through Stark Mountain, and begun rifling through GTS for some new Stuff.
Things What Are Frustrating: I'm chasing Mesprit, Cresselia, Zapdos, Moltres, (and presumably Articuno also but I've yet to actually SEE that one) about Sinnoh and apparently Mean Look stops working if one's Crobat faints. This requires me to uplevel said Crobat past lv40, it would seem. It is on my To-Do List.
I've also purchased a set of all five GBA Pokémon games so I can use Pal Park (and oh god I can have my Blaziken and my Charizard \o/) Working on my other favourites currently. I know Skarmories exist on Stark Mountain, I just have to take the time and look.
Speaking of... A Dawn Stone exists somewhere up near the Survival Area it turns out so there are three in the actual game -- the bog of Route 212, Mt. Coronet while working up towards the Spear Pillar, and up a Rock Climb wall near the Survival Area. AND my Pachirisu found two so far so... I have a Froslass, three Gallades, and a spare for when I... get another male Kirlia. This is looking good for an all-Gallade team. I just have to train my other Gallades/Gardevoirs up now.
Is there a Pokémon, Gen whatever I don't care, that's Fire/Psychic type? I want one of those.
Anyway, my Main Team for the big battles is:
Gallade (m) (named ENJOLRAS) Empoleon (m) (named ETIENNE) Roserade (f) (named ROSE MARIE) Staraptor (f) (named STELLA) Pachirisu (f) (named PERPETUA)
and a load of other things including: a Lucario (RORY) (m); a Crobat (ZENON) (m); a Luxray (ANTOINE) (m); a Rapidash (PEMBERTON) (m); a Honchkrow (MATIDIA) (f) (thanks Freddie); a Rhydon (DONATIEN) (m) (not sure why other than I wanted something to breed Earthquake onto my Cranidos); Gallade (RAPHAEL) (m); Gallade (GRANTAIRE) (m) (yes really); Gardevoir (GARDELOI) (m); Gardevoir (GABRIELLE) (f); and an Altaria (SYLVIE) (m)
Have been playing in Backlot's backyard, chasing abovementioned roaming legendaries, and checking out the swarms (got a Skitty and a Krabby and a Cleffa from these endeavours). And levelling up, of course. It's slightly less exciting when leveling up means pairing GRANTAIRE (a lv 26 Gallade) and his Exp. Share with ENJOLRAS (a lv 68 Gallade) and roaming about Stark Mountain and Rt 228 killing everything in sight, but I shall manage it somehow.
So I was bopping around underground when I got a notice that I'm supposed to go to a Union Room?
I had put a Shieldon up for trade (I want a Cranidos) and I thought it had something to do with that but the Shieldon is still sitting there, and it turns out I did that with the GTS
So I figured out that I had to go upstairs in a Pokécenter... but the Union Room is empty. WTF?
Happy Easter
GUESS WHO FINALLY HAS HER FIRST GALLADE
YEP, THIS ACE TRAINER.
(It was either Ace Trainer or Battle Girl, and fuck being a Cowgirl. I am an Ace [Gallade] Trainer!)
He currently knows Confusion, Swords Dance, Night Slash, and Leaf Blade (latter two thanks to the heart scales I found underground), and Confusion will be going away as soon as he levels up enough to learn Psycho Cut, and I think that will be this particular Gallade's final moveset. I need to find another Dawn Stone so my OTHER Kirlia can evolve to Gallade and thus I can use up my Drain Punch TM on him. So I need to hurry up and get Perpetua up 22 more levels. Argh.
The other Gallade will know.... other stuff. Slash and Drain Punch, for sure. Probably some elemental moves or Aerial Ace or something. Hmmmmmm. Must ponder movesets later, though.
MY BAT IS HAPPY
Zenon, my Golbat, evolved into a Crobat. Just now. At level 29.
Damn, I thought it would take a lot longer than that. Thanks, Cheryl! Clearly your Soothe Bell did the trick there.
OPERATION: TRADE BABY GALLADES AND A GARDEVOIR TO DRATINKERS = SUCCESSFUL!
If only my wireless weren’t so…. spotty. Yay!
And here they are! (Also, I used your pink space pig fairy and the Brazilian aquamouse to breed a Cleffa. I am becoming a connoisseur of babies after all.)
OH MY GOD
THAT IS EVER. SO. ADORABLE.
:D They look so happy.

HEY DRATINKERS
wanna trade today? :D
I’ll have my DS charged on in an hour or two.
Can do!
YAY! :D Let me go…. dig out your beasties. \o/ And then fly me to a PokéCenter.
WHOOPS.
In which jenn is a dumbass and reblogs to the wrong blog! Hahaha.
OKAY I am at the PokéCenter with a pile of Pokés in tow. :D Let'see if I can figure out how this trading thing works (i have never actually done it since the days of attaching a cable to a Game Boy back with Blue/Red.)

@dratinkers
RAPHAEL is a Level 22 Kirlia, ready for his Dawn Stone! :D
ATHENAIS is a lovely Level 31 Gardevoir. I'm considering training her a bit more but otherwise she's ready for you.
JULIEN is at Level 28. I'm torn between growing him some more without evolving him, or letting him stay there for you to decide whether he gets a Dawn Stone or not. If Kirliae weren't so notoriously low on all defenses this wouldn't be much of a question, but just about anything faster can knock out Kirlia in 1-2 moves. At least Ralts has the excuse of being a cute widdle baby, but Kirlia doesn't make anything easy.
Anyway, I've got Fly so I can move around with ease, hooray! Which means I'm going to be training Raltses and Kirliae for ... probably the next week, since I can fly them to places with easier training, instead of fussing with the Exp. Share. Although with all the Geodudes/Gravelers/Rhyhorns on Route 214, that's not too shabby.

As soon as I have taught something Fly I will be ready to trade. :D
Awww, that’s ever so unforch as I’m not sure I can sneak to where the wireless is tonight without incurring the wrath of the elder occupants of this mansion! Do you think you could maybe possibly set a couple of minutes aside tomorrow? Generally, though, yay!
LOL that will probably not BE before tomorrow. And I have to work tomorrow so, uh. The aforementioned “you’ll need to be awake after 2330EDT” applies through next Friday. :D? Work doesn’t have wifi otherwise I’d totally trade during my lunch break or something.
I kind of intend to finish some JULIEN’s and ATHENAIS’s training by beating the Veilstone gym with them. And then I have to go through the Galactic building to GET Fly.
After I do some other stuff (read: homework I’ve been putting off) I will attempt that tonight though.
AH, I SEE. Uh, I … there’s a chance I will be awake again rather than still at/after 2330EDT one of these days (‘one of these days’ meaning ‘after I do homework I’ve been putting off’), but if not so I shall look forward to next weekend, then! And take the inbetweening time to scribble tacky Easy Chat System mail.
EXCELLENT. :D I shall make a self-indulgent post on tumblr when I’ve reached the appropriate point. <3

Galactic Gallade! Does not have a pointy chin but compensates well enough.
GALLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE.
Gallade does not need pointy chins as he has POINTY THINGS FOR ARMS.
Accurate comic is accurate. Never underestimate a Gallade, he can beat you up when you think you got him cornered. <3
And you wonder why I love this little bugger. If I could have a Pokémon follow me around, he would be it. Nobody would mess with me and my Gallade.

AS I WAS SAYING before I fell asleep on Mt Silver (don't do it; wild Sneasels take your omelettes) ... hahaha, I was surprised Hoenn Victory Road didn't require Cut. I had to give two spots in my team to a Slakoth and a Goldeen in the single digit levels just to get through. In retrospect I would have done well to get Surf on Mudkip, but ... I did not figure out that Surf was actually useful in battle until after Ruby (occasionally I wonder how I ever win anything). At least there is no Rock Climb in Hoenn at all (you know they would have put that in as well). Or Defog (though that's optional, I guess). I have been expecting every Victory Road since to require ALL OF THE HMS (especially after Mt Coronet used quite a few) and always been surprised when they only had a couple of boulders. I agree re: nothing to do - the only thing I did after getting the golems (for some reason I never went for Rayquaza) was win Beauty Contests with my Wailord.
I won Beauty Contests with my Blaziken. :D Fire moves really wow them audiences, let me tell you. Julien the Blaziken had his picture in the Museum and everything!
That's when I started my all-Skarmory team. Haven't been on Ruby in ages because I got bored training in the desert.
Surf is useful except in double battles because it hits your partner, where it is best not to have a partner who will not survive the water onslaught. So it's REALLY annoying sometimes too. I completely forget what I had in Victory Road in Ruby. I know I had my Zigzagoon, and Blaziken and Groudon, but... that whole time is a blur. I like Platinum a lot better. Plenty of things to keep me occupied and better areas to train in when I don't feel like doing the next part of the quest.
Meanwhile, Ralts training is going... slowly. Why do Kirlias have no defenses whatsoever. :(

OOOH TROPIUS. I am biased in favour of Steven as a Champion both because he was the first one I beat (since I never got to play when I were a wee lass et cetera) and because I beat him in an arduous battle involving Aggron and Metagross on one side and Vulpix and Skitty on the other ::3 But he is also one of my favourite champions-putting-in-appearances, especially for that one time he just jumps over a ledge at you à propos of nothing and lets you know that it is totally okay to raise only the Pokémon you like, you don’t gotta catch ‘em all. That’s just nice to hear once in a while. I like Cynthia a lot, no doubt - scatterbrained (and scatter-roomed) researchers who foist their more immediate duties on others? any day! - but her early-on appearances did not tie in quite as smoothly (why ever does she give you Togepi?!) as Steven’s ‘just hanging around this cave because that is my hobby’/’oh hey my dad just invented this device see what it does’ does, I think. I don’t know. But yyyyeah, I think Ruby/Sapphire is really linear? Go to place A, fulfill quest B, use to obtain item C, which you need to unlock path D to get to place E. It’s a lot more dependent on ALL OF THE HMs than pretty much everything I’ve played since and … I don’t know. I will always, always cherish RSE (and I really! love! Hoenn! I will always think of myself as ~a trainer from the Hoenn region~ even when I hardly ever use a Pokémon from there), but I am also glad that they were my starter drug here and not something to explore post-Gen-IV. OH, SINNOH TV. “Also, I like hot milk. See ya!” Rich Boy is my favourite NPC in this region. OF ALL TIME.
Yeah. I gotta say, being forced to choose my Pokémon around the SIX HMS you needed to get through Victory Road in Ruby chafed a bit. Either I had to carry three different HM slaves or teach HMs to useful Pokémon. I mean. I’m sure they COULD have found a way to work in Cut and Fly if they tried hard enough, but really… Also I like the Regi quests in Ruby. That was at least entertaining, but the downside of RSE is that there really isn’t anything to do after beating the Elite Four other than catch the Regis and Rayquaza. Platinum at least is full of fun quests. (Except for the arduous Mount Coronet and Distortion World OH GOD I hate the Distortion World. Never have I relied so labouriously on walkthroughs before.) I tend to fluctuate between CATCH EVERY POKÉMON THEN TRAIN THEM ALL and JUST GIVE ME SIX BLAZIKENS / SKARMORIES / GALLADES AND I’LL BE FINE REALLY. Which is the only explanation for the Chinglings and Bronzors and Chatots and Girafarigs in my emulated Platinum box, I think.
(I like the Team Galactic grunts. They're funny as hell. Especially the one who calls Crasher Wake a daft codger. <3)
