For the top image I had layered all of the images I had taken from the inside of the Bandstand. I changed the transparency to create a blurry dreamlike visual for the viewer I like how there is a pattern going throughout the images that were layered. I then cropped and changed the framing to a circle to make the image more unusual then I experimented with the boarder of the circle. The outcome I am most happy with is the 3rd circular image.
We were experimenting with creating negative space in our images. I used the brush tool to outline the edges and then on a diff rent layer I deleted the space around the windows. These are my before and after
Me, Myself & I - Still Life
This week our project was to photograph an object that is person to us... I chose a pair of sunglasses I had when I was 3 years old. I chose these because I have good memories from when I was that age. I also photographed my sketchbook to show the size of the sunglasses because the size was unnoticeable when they were photographed alone. Also I thought it would be nice to have the book open rather than shut as it has a black cover. I photographed the subjects using a tungsten light set up with one light facing a reflector to create indirect lighting and a light towards the right of the background to make it seem like a gradient. The images were taken on a shutter speed of 1/30s with an ISO of 200. For the first image the camera was on f4.5 and for the second it was on f5.6. I used a short depth of field to draw the viewer more to the sunglasses than the book as that was originally my chosen subject. I then lightened the images on photoshop using curves.
Me, Myself & I - Portrait This week our assignment was to photograph hands and as the project is 'Me, Myself & I' I thought I would photograph my own hands to make the outcome more personal. My first thought was to have one hand hold the other also facing up but then I thought this had a closed feeling. I then wanted to focus on one hand on its own as I thought the right hand seemed bare but there was a sense of isolation and loneliness. I used a flash set up with two lights, I used soft boxes on both to create a soft and spread light. The camera was set with an aperture of 5.6 and a shutter speed of 1/125s and a 100 ISO. I am happy with my outcome but if I were to re shoot this subject I would experiment with a different lighting set up such as tungsten.
Scanning Negatives When scanning images the scanner only scans 2 frames at one this was awkward as I needed to scan a panoramic image captured on a Spinner 360 lomography camera. Before inserting the negatives into the negative carrier we had to make sure that there was no dust on the glass. We did this by cleaning the glass with a cotton glove. We the powered up the scanner and put the negatives into the carrier emulsion side up. When the scanner program is opened we selected the [negative scan] setting and change the resolution to 1200dpi (945pcm) then click [preview] then select the part you want scanned and click [scan]. It will then need to be saved as a TIFF as this is a lossless compression.
From the options box you can choose how the images are stitched together to create a panoramic. These are the different outcomes. Personally I do not think it makes a big visual difference but it is a matter of opinion.
First I opened all the images I wanted to stitch together in Photoshop on different documents. Then went to [File] and down to [automate] and selected [photomerge] this then opened a pop-up window allowing you to select the files you want to stitch together. I then clicked 'add open files' that selected all the different windows I opened at the start. If there is an unsaved file it will not add it to the selection. I then chose the Cylindrical setting with the 'blend' box ticked and clicked on 'OK'. This then automatically stitched together my images to create a panoramic.

Me, Myself & I - Still Life (fruit) I approached this project wanting to use the flash light set up but then realized that the tungsten lights gave a more natural effect to the subject. I wanted the fruit to look natural as when we think of nature we think of life, the
Me, Myself & I - Hands I thought that I would take a straight forward photograph of my hands but that seemed too boring so I included my bracelets for more colour and texture to my image. Wile photographing both my hands I realised that my right arm looked empty so I decided to use this as my final image. I used two flash lights in my set up to minimise the shadows created (FINISH!)
This is a comparison between the visual differences of a RAW file and a JPG file. The RAW file has more defined lines and shapes compared to the JPG file. the JPG seems to be lighter in color because it is automatically adjusted in the camera. This takes away some of the tones and shades in the image.

Research of Hands I like theses images for very different reasons the first from an unknown photographer I like because it includes the body of the person and that they are outside with the world on their hands as if they are exploring what they hold. Found on flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/bradi/) I like this image with the soft lighting and light from the flame, the shallow depth of field is effective and leads the viewer to the hand. The subject matter is interesting to have an open flame in a room full of books with the wax dripping from the hand.
After I scanned my negatives that were shot on a lomo camera I edited out the scratches and marks using the spot healing tool in photoshop.
