this morning i'm fucked up thinking about how out of the four of them, drusilla is the only one who never wanted it. she not only didn't seek it out or ask for it; she actively resisted being turned. the other three may not have fully understood exactly what becoming a vampire would entail, but they did understand that it would allow them to be the truest versions of themselves and embraced it willingly. drusilla fought against it with every fiber of her being, horrified by the thought of becoming an evil thing, and in the end the evil thing became her. it took her so far away from her truest self that not even her memories of being that girl can be relied upon now because she can't trust her own mind. drusilla said no and nothing has ever been the same for her since then and everyone except for spike acts like it's her fault she's crazy. in another life, a life she got to actually live out, she would have been canonized as a saint.
