Sally had been in her little clothes shop, busy with a new dress that she’d been excited to finish, when Zeldaborne popped her head in to tell her that Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie were at it again. The seamstress sighed, blowing her red bangs out of her eyes exasperatedly. “When will those two learn?” she muttered to herself as she left the dress at her work table. She thanked Zeldaborne for bringing it to her attention before leaving the shop and locking up.
Racing through town towards the squabbling pair, she wondered what they could possibly be fighting over this time. Whatever it was, they seemed to have gathered a small crowd.
“What in the name of Halloween Town are the two of you doing?!“ Why couldn’t they just…no, they weren’t the type to put things behind them. It hadn’t occurred to her yet to look down at her own chest, or even theirs.
Stepping between the two men, she held her arms out in an attempt to keep the two separate. Of course, as a ragdoll, they could easily over power her and continue their fight if they so chose. “This is getting old. What has gotten into you two this time?” The red head was not usually the type to raise her voice, but she was at the end of her rope. She didn’t know what else to do.
The sight of the redhead was enough to make the two males let her part them. Hurting her wasn’t something either was willing to do. Not with how often she’d tried to help them or keep the peace between them. They’d been there long enough for this sort of behavior to have become routine.
❝ Why not ask good ol’ Jack there. I’m sure the King has plenty to say. ❞
❝ Because being your soulmate is a far worse fate than the end of all creation? You can’t seem to take the truth, old friend. ❞ Jack said, motioning to the mark on Oogie’s chest before exposing the one on his own skin.
❝ Like you’re such a catch. Yes, I’ve always wanted to stand by the Pumpkin King’s side. Such an honor, your majestic bloatedness! ❞ he taunted, laughing as Jack tried to reach around Sally to grab him once more. ❝ What about you, my dear? Find your soulmate mark yet? ❞ he asked, looking down at the woman between them, preferring to act as though Jack wasn’t there anymore.
