“I’m always paranoid, Declan. I’m just waiting for the next person to walk out of my life like my mom did. It’s destined to happen, and I sure as hell don’t want it to be you. It’s just going to take a bit until I can get myself to believe that. Everyone I love leaves, so please don’t make that you,” she took a deep breath, stepping forward to him and pulling him into a well needed hug.
“I’m not going to walk out on you Cord, there is no one I want more than you,” he sighed holding her close, burying his face in her hair. “I won’t leave you, I love you, I love you so much.”

“I wouldn’t be,” Declan uttered. “So I thought-- well good luck with that and all.”

“I’m sorry I’m such a pain,” she whispered, her gaze dropping to her feet. “I know you’re not breaking up with me. I’m just…I’m scared, Declan. I’m really damn scared that everything that’s been good these past few months is just all going to disappear, even if it’s in a few years when we’re all graduated and doing different things with our lives. I love you, and I don’t want anything to change. I’m just scared everything is going to go down hill… because of me.”
“You’re not a pain,” he whispered, rubbing his eyes as he sighed. “Baby, you’re being paranoid, no we don’t know where life will take us, but nothing you’ll do will ever make me leave you, and whatever is happening isn’t because of you,” he stated easily. Tugging her close to him, he rest his forehead on her shoulder.

Cordelia sighed, kissing him back, feeling slightly guilty for making him feel bad with her words. She pulled away, shaking her head. “I don’t know how to believe you, Declan. I want to believe you, God, I want to. But I just- I’m just worried you’re gonna leave me.” Cordelia sighed, looking down. “I feel like that too. And I love you just as much, I just… there have been so many people in my life that have left me. And I’m worried you’ll be one of them - like I thought when you said you were dropping out, and now again.”
Declan swallowed hard as he stared down at her, licking his lips. “I--” he stared down to his feet. “I don’t know what else to say Cord, I don’t know how else to show you that I’m not going to leave you,” he muttered, stepping back slightly. “You’ve got to trust in me, that this isn’t me break-up up with you, you got to believe me,” he whispered. “What happens two years from now when we’re graduated, the same thing, we’ll be going to different schools most likely, but that doesn’t mean I’ll leave you then either. We still live in the same town, ten minutes from each other by walking, nothing’s changed. Just schools.”

“I don’t know, Declan. This is all just too much. It has to be about me in at least some way. I’ve been a pain, don’t deny it. I’ve put all my problems out in front of me for everyone else to deal with. Even if you don’t think it’s me making you change your mind, I’m at least part of your decision,” she closed her eyes, shaking her head. “I know you love me, Declan. But I-I just…I don’t understand how.”
Declan felt his heart ache at her words, slowly brushing her hair back more, his hands moved to cup her cheeks, kissing her deeply. “There is nothing you could of ever done that I could would make me want to leave you, you’ve been nothing but a joy to be around and be with, and me going back to school too that school wasn’t me changing my mind,” stroking her sides he sighed resting his forehead against hers. “Because there’s no one for me but you,” he uttered softly. “You’re my second half, your the calm in my stormy world, you were the first person that I knew was right for me, even when I didn’t know what it was. Nothing felt right till there was you.”

“It’s stupid,” she muttered, shaking her head. “But how could it only be about your dad? You dropped out and now suddenly there’s an option to go somewhere I’m not, and you’re going. This is different, Dec. It’s different and you know it.”
“He’s a jerk, I know,” sighing softly Declan stared at her. “It is, I promise you, his oldest daughter is a drop out, his oldest son is the bad seed ending up in a school full of bad kids, it’s going to look bad on him. He won the battle of me going back, but I picked that school because it’ll look bad on him, this wasn’t about you, or me not wanting be around you. I’m defying my father because he’s a prick,” he uttered. “A little yeah, but not by much, we’ll get out at the same time and I can come straight to Blake’s and be with you till I have to go home,” he stated easily. Tugging her so she was pressed against him. “You gotta believe me, I love you.”

“It should make it your choice, though! You’re your own person. It doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks,” she sighed. “S-so, you’re…you and I are going to different schools now? Are you really sure it’s because your dad and not because of me?”
“Well-- that’s not how it works I guess,” he uttered softly, shoulders slumping. “Yeah-- we are. What! Baby,” he whispered, moving closer to her, fingers gently moving to brush her hair back. “It’s because of my dad, no you, never you,” he stared down to her. “I love you, so much, we will still spend every minute outside of school together just how we talked,” he pulled her closer.

“I agree with you, but you should probably watch your language,” Tallulah said. “Just a suggestion from a ‘person of authority’ though, feel free to not take it seriously.”
“Yeah-- I don’t care really. Unless you’re teaching at my school-- which I doubt it you don’t seem like the reform teacher type.”

“It’s your choice though, Declan. It’s always been your choice, and you told me that when you said that school wasn’t right for you,” she frowned. “An- Brookview? Oh, you’re going to Brookview, I see… I’ve been around my fair share of bad people, Dec.”
“I did say that, unfortunately being a minor doesn’t make it my choice in my dad’s eyes, or being his son,” he muttered looking down. “Yeah, I-- I don’t see myself fitting in Ridgeway as much as I’d want too, and mostly, I just really want my dad to feel the burn of this. Not like them, they are judgemental, and they’ll make you feel like shit the moment you meet them. It’s their nature.”
