"Okay, the box is mine but some of the stuff in the box isn't."
Ā Ā Ā āDoesnāt mean itās mine. Like hell that shitād be in your room.ā
She moved closer to him, standing up on her tippy-toes to meet his eye-level. Her hands were on her hips, and her lips formed an annoyed pout; her blue eyes stared straight into hisā. āForgive me for hoping that you were doing alright and not off dead somewhere, Lord Gan Ning,ā her annoyed tone followed along her annoyed pout. He didnāt need to send anything back, she had some worries that she simply needed to send off - she didnāt need those feelings while she was trying to work on her duties while she was home.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Gan Ning tilted his head to her satisfaction, a brow quirking as he looked her in the eye. He was uncertain whether her words were meant to sting--in which they didn't--but her tone made it as clear as day that she was not the least bit impressed.
Ā Ā Ā "You're better off keeping your hope for when you need it," he responded promptly, leaning in further as if to get his point across. He bumped his nose with her own then, an action he would often take to get a one-up on Ling Tong in the heat of an argument, however it lacked his usual pressure and aggression.
Ā Ā Ā "Because I'm sure as hell not about to die on a little trip for a few days, sweetness."
kou-tsukiko:
Her expression became dead. This guy just couldnāt understand sentimental value, did he? āI know itās only been a few days.ā Yuezi puffed her cheeks. ābut /things/ can /happen/ within a few days, you know.ā She gave him the absolute stink-eye
Ā Ā Ā "Yeah," Gan Ning began, pausing for a moment as he tilted his head, "like returning home." He responded defiantly, strong arms folding across the width of his broad chest, as a single brow lifted as if to lure her in--asking for her to challenge him in the realm of such things again.
Ā Ā Ā "What's the sense in sending something like that anyway?" A serious question, really. He didn't understand what the point of it was, especially when he couldn't send anything back.
[/PIGEON MAIL GOGO.] "It's rather quiet, and I must admit that your absence is a little... unsettling. It's odd not hearing you get into a squabble with Lord Ling Tong, or drinking with your men, or just being up to your own mischief. It's been nice, but it also doesn't feel like my day is complete without it. I don't know. Where ever you may be, I just pray that you're doing well and wish you a safe return home. Take care, Lord Gan Ning."
Ā Ā Ā āThe hell is this?ā The boisterous warrior grunted upon return, making a bee-line for the woman who sent him the letter. The page was hoisted into the air, gripped like a piece of cloth within his knuckles and waving it like a bannerāits affiliation known to only himself and to her.
Ā Ā Ā āYāknow I got this on the way back, right?ā He paused when he reached her, stuffing the letter behind the rim of his pants at his hip. āI left for a few days, not a few years.ā

Ā Ā Ā "What?--Ā Ā Ā Ā Yeah, of course, old man!Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā --obviously."
-- Not that I was looking or anything!
Ā Ā Ā āThe hell you werenāt! Iām gonna kick your ass!ā
I bet the way her hips move got you hypnotised.
Ā Ā Ā āItās overācāmere!ā
OR FERTILIZED?
Ā Ā Ā āAre you done?ā
FRIED?
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR EGGS?
Ā Ā Ā āGet lost!ā
HEY HEY HEY GAN NING I GOT A QUESTION TO ASK!!!
Ā Ā Ā āThe hell you want?ā
"Already?" There was a small hint of disappointment in her voice. ābut you just came backā¦' was what she would have said to him, but refrained from making it sound like she, Heaven forbid, actually cared for him a lot more than she thought. Gan Ning was like a beast in that way; cage him for too long, and he'll become restlessā battle was what kept him busy; she understood why he wanted to go back to the battlefield, so she tried not to let her disappointment get to her.
Being the careful and thoughtful person that she was, Yuezi looked closely to examine him for any injuries. āMm⦠Not a single scratch on you. Your men, on the other hand, werenāt as fortunate; but theyāll be taken cared for, I promise.ā she let him know. āWhy donāt you have something to eat, at the very least?āĀ
Ā Ā Ā "It's better than sittin' around." He announced in reply, hammering one fist into the palm of the other. An anxious grin sprawled across his lips in anticipation, more focused on the upcoming battle rather than the things Yuezi might have said. He cared for her, sure--cared about the things that went through her mind and the feelings that gripped her, but he wasn't about to dwell on the but's and what if's. If someone wanted to say something, they said it. He wasn't going to sit around and waste his time waiting for someone to make up their mind.
Ā Ā Ā His attention returned to Yuezi once she leaned in to examine him, and a proud grin split his face as he pounded a fist against his chest in pride.
Ā Ā Ā "Of course there isn't," he retorted, "you think I'd let them touch me? Hah! I'll tell you what, they had another thing comin'." He gave a nod to her in gratitude, knowing that his men were in good hands.
Ā Ā Ā "You know what? That's a good idea. I'm starving." Came his reply as he began forward, looking back at the woman left in his shadow expectantly, "you comin'?"
"Oh, what a comeback! Have I stepped on your little man-pride? SorryĀ not sorry.ā
Ā Ā Ā "Hah! As if. Don't flatter yourself, princess."
"Oh cāmon, donāt be so butthurt. I was just poking at you! It wouldnāt be fun if you didnāt put up much of a fight."
Ā Ā Ā "Butthurt? I'll show you butthurt--!!"
Her face flushed red, but she wasnāt going to give him the satisfaction of answering truthfully. āNo. I was just curious.ā Her tone was firm and a little cold. āItās good to have you back, I will say that.āĀ
Ā Ā Ā "Alright, I'll remember that the next time we're deployed." He replied with a shrug, hands reaching up to settle behind his head, arms bending at the elbows as he leaned back comfortably. "I'm already itching to get back out there anyway."
kou-tsukikoĀ said:Ā "⦠That isā Iā Th-That isnāt an answer, and you know it!"
Ā Ā Ā "Sure it is. Now you answer mine."

Ā Ā Ā Rough fingers rubbed at the back of his head, the bridge of his nose crinkling in mild irritation at the melodic, albeit unnatural sound. His glance shifted and his neck craned enough to spy the source of it from across the stream, to which he would disregard. He had priorities--contrary to popular belief--and he would force his attention elsewhere in order to tend to them.
