shared soul
He made sure that he confessed To me, more than once That too with such audacity that doesn't leave Even an iota of, room for offence
I kept my gaze low Which I thought was most wise Fearing, he might read the truths of my soul Shimmering in my eyes
Yet he called my name aloud A special point, in the otherwise quiet night As if coaxing, shy stars to giggle At our secret, sparkling light
He held my hand with care Ensuring I wouldn’t slip or stray Noticing every little effort I made To brighten our shared day
He spoke as though I were a queen Already crowned in his eyes He called me 'his nothing', for the lack of a better word While I thought I was just breaking the ice
I wonder at this fragile feeling Knowing, that the complete picture holds another Is it ok to simply feel Or to cherish without crossing that line further
In the silent spaces between heartbeats I question the tender love I feel For the one, he already calls his own Is a dear one to me too, for real
Such love is forbidden I learnt in the school as well So I kept my distance And didn't do anything, even borderline cruel
Now when I think back About that bittersweet night I ache for its gentle magic I ache for its fading light
I wish upon the universe To make more such moments happen To lose myself in our words again And have the stars clappin'
