Designing the starting village!
Taking a break from scripting the tutorial battle and designing the starting village, which will be your home base and the connecting hub that lets you travel from area to area.
Welcome to Angor Animi, otherwise known as the "Village upon the Clover"!
The map isn't quite finished yet, but I thought I'd post the progress I've made. Map design was never really my strong suit, but I've been having fun gradually learning as I go!
The town where nothing ever changes, and no one ever leaves - Angor Animi is a small village with only a handful of people, but for some reason is heavily fortified. However, it seems to be more concerned with keeping something IN rather than keeping things OUT.
Idyllic on the surface, it's almost a little too serene - after all, the easiest way to hold someone hostage is to make sure they never want to leave.
The village where Minthe grew up, it was abandoned after a catastrophe - and it's your goal to help repopulate it by bringing people back into the town!
Trying out a different tileset! I'm liking this one a lot more.
Will be a while before I settle on an art style, I'm in the process of trying to recruit my fantastic graphic designer uncle as my concept artist so I can have original art, at least for my tilesets.
For now I'll be toddling along with DLC tilesets from Steam!
(spoiler - the final game art will likely be a frankenstein of multiple art styles, which will be explained for in-universe reasons related to the story)
