In The Beginning

Many know the tale of Three Houses: the story of choices and destiny, of making a path for one’s self. But not many know this version of the tale:

Fódlan’s current political climate, rife with war and struggle, can be traced back to the events that took place at the Garreg Mach Officer’s Academy in 1180, the very year you all went to school together.

It happened suddenly and without warning— the monastery was attacked by a secret group known as Those Who Slither In The Dark, and all of you fought to defend the church. Even Edelgard, after revealing herself as the Flame Emperor, sided with the Church and joined in the fight. No one really had time to think that confession over as you fought tirelessly to defend Garreg Mach. Despite all of your best efforts, you would lose this fight and flee to safety. But this was only the beginning of the tale rather than the end.

The events that followed would appear unrelated and inconsequential to those not present that day at Garreg Mach. The existence of Those Who Slither In The Dark would remain buried in the rubble of the monastery. In the Empire, the growing tensions already present would mount in a civil war. Edelgard’s uncle, Lord Volkhard von Arundel, usurped the throne before she could be crowned Emperor. Those loyal to Edelgard and the imperial family rebelled against the change and still fight today. For those of you in Adrestia, this is where the front lines in your fight are located. The Kingdom? Well, Lady Rhea and the church had to hide somewhere. The members of the Church of Seiros are hidden in Gautier and Fraldarius territory, tirelessly planning their counterattack. They’ve been held back for quite some time, as Those Who Slither In The Dark have used Cornelia, court mage of Faerghus’ royal family, to frame Prince Dimitri for the murder of Regent Rufus. Following these events, it is said that Dimitri was executed, and the Kingdom has been in political disarray ever since. In the Alliance, things are much less bloody. Claude, newly appointed head of the Roundtable, and his allies have been trying to gather the support of the rest of the Alliance lords to aid their old schoolmates in the fight. However, the Roundtable does not support the idea of Alliance involvement, for they believe neutrality to be the most prudent option in this war. As a result, Claude and co.™ have been sitting like ducks, helplessly attempting to keep in touch with everyone else and waiting for a chance to strike…

Where Your Story Begins

The year is now 1185, and saying things have been difficult is stating things lightly. This year would have been the Millennium Festival. You should have been celebrating with your friends, waxing nostalgic about your school days and laughing as you recall Claude and Lorenz pissing in front of the Archbishop. But instead, you are gearing up for continental war.

Lady Rhea has sent letters to you and all of your former classmates asking for aid. Now, she says, is the time to take back the church. You do not know what has turned the tides, but your instinct compels you to heed her words. As it stands now, all of you are set to meet again at Gronder Field to hear the details of her cryptic message.
