[ tap ] / from maría salazar .
𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐑 in his career,
an unexpected tap on the shoulder was one of the most chilling feelings he could feel. To not know who's behind him ; who had him in that vunerable position.
Now, however?
Only the stupidest of cartel members would sneak up on him.
He didn't jump at the touch,
or retaliate in any vicious way.
The man in khaki green simply slowly turned to the hand and met the girl's jewelled eyes with a hardened gaze, hands restrained in a polite cross in front of his broad frame.

it's not polite to be pulled out of his warm bed with a few angry cops by his door , and come here when sleep was still fresh on eyelids . when he sits behind the table across from the colonel , his genuine wish was to break something in his face or break his face against a wall . neon lights irritate his eyes , staring at his counterpart with a lazy little twitch of lips ( could be sold as a polite one , right ? ) , and his elegant fingers curled , tangled in each other over his lap . it's supposed to be an alliance of respect between them yet it was out of question to expect a man like carrillo to follow the usual routine of drug dealer and police relationships . peña was easier to deal with , too tender on the chest to lie , even murphy was a better companion than this one . a feral , hungry animal solidified into a body of a person . ❛ rather late for a nightly conversation , colonel . ❜ his smooth voice mixes with the gentle beat of the quiet music in the bar , reaching over to take a sip from his bitter coffee and hope for it to wake him up fully .
❛ do you have a reason for your unannounced demand to meet ? ❜ his mind does a quick skim over the informations he's sold the man ; exact location of a cocaine base , the date of escobar's latest transmission . his hair , less gelled and unfortunately giving him a youthful aura . a reason why escobar didn't like him , along with the known fact that was spread over the whole country it seems . liking men , falling in love with them , having them . one day he will have a wider space in this place , somewhere no one dared to ask questions . pacho widens his smile , softer glow in his eyes , he wants carrillo dead by his feet .
violence , whether done by the name of patriotism or under the command of druglords , is indeed still violence . the tragedy of the ones that don't side with the law is that they simply get more people to hate them than a man who hides under the titles of colonel and officer and kills and kills . pacho herrera isn't like the colonel , he doesn't kill like escobar does , but he knows when to end something when it starts to get too loud and too bold and right now he realize he cannot end this yet . one thing he forgot about feeding the lion is that he might lose his hand if he's not paying attention to where its teeth go . his hunger for the familiar tobacco smoke had distracted him enough to let his hand caught in between the colonel's teeth . something unfamiliar , and sinister flashes inside the gold of his hues yet he remains seated and takes it , what he's quite accustomed to since childhood .
fathers don't usually have nice relationship with their sons in where he's come from , his little brother would be safe ( he'd make sure of it ) but helmer had to be the unfortunate one of the duo and endure the burnt skins , violets growing over his bones and blood . herrera had lived this long enough to know it's not the physical pain that strikes him but the way his ego crumbles beneath carrillo's darker gaze . he tries not to wince , for a while at least before a twitch of pain comes to his lips , a catch in his breath as he keeps his gaze low and waits for it to end , with a heart that threatens to break his ribs . ' careful there , chico , these guys aren't as sweet as i am . ' chepe must have known something about the colonel , pacho didn't believe him when he declared the death of a kid . how could a man possibly do it ? point a gun at such small face ?
it ends ; colonel smokes his ashes .
a smile flashes colonel's say when he straightens , gaze fixed oddly on the end of his cigarette . pablo's loyal men of forever would never take his place , carrillo had no choice but to listen and be patient . that's the truth of things but in this situation ( and with a burnt hand that stays motionless on the table , flexes a few times , it hurts ) pacho can't possibly point it out . ❛ you scared escobar , colonel . he's pacing around his house each hour of the day . ❜ chupamedias , at its best . ❛ he's too frightened to do anything , therefore comes my silence . one wrong move and he'll spot us , no ? ❜ his wounded hand reaches for the discarded cigarette and brings it up his lips , and just by his luck the waiter passing by ( does he have blue eyes ? he desperately wants to focus on that ) holds a lighter under his cigarette . the golden gaze lingers too much on the young boy . before eventually he mumbles a ' gracias ' and lets the stuttering boy return to his work .
the other end of the table doesn't make pacho too eager to stare , refined features and hardened gaze had always been a plus but in this case horacio carrillo is an exception that pacho tirelessly wants under his boot . ❛ though , you might want to look out for señorita velez . ❜ not that pacho cares about pablo's women , but velez happened to be a journalist therefore a little bit of thorn on their side . he scratches his forehead with the wounded hand that holds his cigarette , appreciates the way it calms his nerves and goes on . ❛ you know , she's a nice tool to use if you want to get to higher places . ❜
it is an information nonetheless , just doesn't smell like business .
and she's an annoying piece of information , repeatedly mimicking the way escobar reacts to things and what he calls pacho . despite pacho's polite silence and ignorance toward the woman ; he suddenly realizes he wouldn't mind her gone or lose her job at all .
Patience.
It would be both Carrillo's downfall and his savior ; his smile and his glare. Restraint was a trait far and too few with the young men that littered the cartel's ground and scurried underneath their feet ; but it was prevalent in the colonel's actions and everything he did. Perhaps the ( NARCOS ) couldn't quite figure out how to hold that iron ball of anger in their stomachs and unleash it just at the right now. Oh, it was an art Horacio had perfected. Keeping his rabid, seething hound on a short metal chain that tugged and tugged at his ribcage whenever he was a smug face like Pacho's ; the cigarette smoke helped to blur that vile, provocative image a little ; keeping it within his restraints until he found the perfect opportunity to let it go.
Unfortunately for most,
that blood-stained dog — FUR LIKE MIDNIGHT AND MATTED WITH WAILS — tore out the throats of the most innocent people in Pablo's organisation. Young children who could barely aim a gun without the weight of its metal weighing down their weak wrists ; women who were forced to dance on hot coals for prying eyes and were often left burnt-out and discarded for Carrillo to pick up the scraps. Did he do so with care, utmost sympathy for these girls? No. His internal dog ravaged their delicate bodies for information and left them barely a husk of their former selves after it was done ; which gave these poor women an awful choice. Stay with the cartel, or fall into Carrillo's unforgiving hands. Some tried to run, but where the cartel didn't have eyes — Carrillo's men did.
The pit of his stomach churned as he saw the way he looked at the male waiter that hesitantly walked over to their shadowed table ; cautious in his footsteps because both men had quite the reputation. The colonel scratched his peering-stubble with his thumb and held his white cigarette between two lazy fingers, deep-set eyes hugged with weary wrinkles watching the brief interaction between the two men. How people loved was none of his business ; he, himself, didn't have much of a love life ; but seeing a man look upon another like his skin could match the delicacy of a woman's? It made him uneasy. He had no such worry about that with Pacho, no — he saw the way this man looked at him with burning disdain in his mahogany eyes. Running thoughts pace through his mind at how someone could become so detached from reality that they could find comfort in the arms of another male. The elder of the two put it down to the horrors and stress of the cartel and tore his gaze away, suckling at the end of his own cigarette as thick brows furrowed into a grimacing frown.
❛ I've heard about Velez. A dead end. That woman would sleep with Pablo on top of the pile of corpses he's responsible for, ❜ the colonel spoke in a contrasting gentle voice, one much unlike the roughness of his movements. Smoke seeped down his throat and hugged his lungs before screaming out of his nostrils in a sighed flare. ❛ If that's all you can give me, then I suppose I'll have to do your job for you. There's a girl. Valentina, she's called. A popular girl with the boys in Medellín. ❜
Valentina.
A singular name, but one that had ran over the lips of most cartel members this side of Cali. A young girl that was passed around the men like a toy ; her scent of flowers and fluttering, waterfall dresses leaving a trail of rose petals wherever she went. Why her?
She had the most amazing gift of getting these narcos boys to talk. After sex and wearing the same shade of lipstick their mother's wore while neglecting them throughout their childhood, Valentina was able to get almost anything out of any mouth she wanted. Javier had already laid his claim on her but Carrillo wanted to get Pacho in there, too ; why? He didn't have to worry so much about him sleeping with her, like his moustached friend down at the embassy.
❛ Find this girl, tell her about what we talked about here today. She's not hard to find. Wears a red flower in her hair. ❜

❛ do you have a reason for your unannounced demand to meet ? ❜ his mind does a quick skim over the informations he's sold the man ; exact location of a cocaine base , the date of escobar's latest transmission . his hair , less gelled and unfortunately giving him a youthful aura . a reason why escobar didn't like him , along with the known fact that was spread over the whole country it seems . liking men , falling in love with them , having them . one day he will have a wider space in this place , somewhere no one dared to ask questions . pacho widens his smile , softer glow in his eyes , he wants carrillo dead by his feet .
akin to feeding a lion and WAITING for it to bite your hand when it's full the meat they give to the lion is unfortunately eaten by someone else and while the lion starves and dies , it'll be pacho and his brothers raising to the throne ; where escobar had warmed for them . escobar and his lion like stance and his golden dreams , he forgets that there are other men that dream too .
known for his patience and serenity , the silverness of his tongue , they could have put chepe santacruz in the charge of fooling the cops and escobar but he didn't possess the talent to remain as calm as pacho did while his heart still hammered in his chest and a scratch laid by his cheek . a gift from carrillo's men , he's memorized that face ; and carrillo's of course . quite TAXING for sure , it takes most of his srlf control not to roll his eyes . a simpler task , he starts to toy with the sleeve of his thin blouse , at least he was shown the decency to be allowed to put on his clothes . ❛ thankfully we are both too civil for such actions . ❜ a quick smile , merely a twitch of his smart mouth before he finishes his coffer in one large gulp .
it's amusing , that carrillo believes him to be a pet that stays by escobar's feet and listens whenever he says something important . the problem about guarding a homophobic man was that he was considerably displeasured by pacho's mere presence near him , thinking like an old man that his ' illness ' is contagious or something . it's stopped offending pacho , it only irritated him now . ❛ because nothing fresh has happened . ❜ he says matter of factly , keeping his dark golden gaze fixed on the OTHER lion of the story .
right in front of him , starving .
❛ surely you do know my encounters with escobar aren't frequent , i am not really . . . favored by him . ❜ his intense stare doesn't falter , noting the boldness , the insulting calmness in the man's movements . he craves a cigarette , he doesn't ask for one . ❛ you need to be patient . and remember , that i have a phone . ❜ but it's just show , just a reminder of who's in charge , just a tug on the leash they've wrapped around pacho herrera's aching neck ─ he had not met with any of his brothers here , not miguel , not gilberto and definitely not chepe . the aim was to interact with a less threatening subject that colonel carrillo , pacho doesn't like being surprised . it wasn't the first time colonel startled him , but it was getting worse on how it affected the seemingly indifferent drug dealer .
Wrangling the dogs under Pablo's iron grip was a bloodier task than many. Many had tried to flee rather than be caught by the men that Carrillo similarly commanded under his stern hand and instead left crimson footprints leading to their grave ; and Horacio was more than happy to help put them there. Their choices were slim and cruel — come with Carrillo and spend the rest of their bitter lives being tortured, go and meet with Pablo ; with a nose like a bloodhound, would be able to smell the gunpowder smell left behind and stained by any encounter with the police force ; and get put to a swift death. The last option would be a somber, one last walk to the early grave. The bullets in their backs would have either Carrillo's or Escobar's names etched into them ; but at that point, did it matter? Was there any pride in going out either way? The young men promised their families riches and gold — SPECTACULAR EMERALDS AND SILVER NECKLACES — but instead left them with blood-stained shards of glass that gave a lousy resemblance to the diamonds they were promised.
Colonel Carrillo and Pablo Escobar were,
in their own ways,
violent murderers. They both frothed at bared teeth at even the slightest chance to end a life ; blood coursed through their veins in an irritating itch until they felt somebody else's. Our man in green here had a safety net ; PATRIOTISM. He did this for his country. His people. His town, his soil. That made up for the stray bullets that found their ways into young kids heads, didn't it? That always brushed away those files of misconduct off those embassy desks.
Criminals like Pacho didn't have such luxuries of seeing things through black and white paperwork ; rather close-up in all its violent glory. Perhaps that's why he looked at Carrillo with just as much disdain in his golden eyes than Horacio did for the criminals that landed in his net. Pacho made no such distinction between the two. They were one and the same. Bold-faced killers, only one wore the medals of his country proudly while he did so.
The cool glass under his callused fingertips soothed the beading sweat on his skin ; at this time of night, the muggy air really set into these small-town bars who turned off their air-conditioning to save it for the day. Furrowed brow speckled with jewels of dew, Horacio tilted his head back to throw down the rest of his whiskey into the back of his throat before lazily pushing his discarded glass towards the ashtray. ❛ I'm letting you live under the condition that you give me worthwhile information on a weekly basis. I'm not asking how much personal time you spend with Pablo, ❜ Car spoke in a heavy voice, accent seeping into every word he spoke.
He tugged out another long cigarette,
before offering the pack to the other.
❛ Who, when and where you spend your time is none of my business, chupamedias. Do you understand me? ❜
Ah, but he'd told him this before, no? Many-a times, many-a places. It never seemed to sit quite right with Pacho, if those bright, golden-boy eyes were an obvious indicator. There was barely a second to react before Carrillo reached across their small, shared table with a swift movement, thick fingers wrapping around Pacho's hand to keep it pinned to the table. Before he put the cigarette to his lips, Horacio brought it close to the other's warm skin and pressed the sizzling end into the back of his palm. The embers seeped into Pacho's skin ; flesh burning in a cruel reminder before the colonel finally let go. His cigarette scented with burnt human flesh, he bought it to his lips anyway.
Can't make a big scene about it though, can we? One wrong move and those soldiers that followed Carrillo around like lost dogs will have their guns pressed to your head faster than you can say coño.
The older of the pair seemed unfazed ; an ugly cry to the calluses of war.
❛ You're only useful to me when you have information to give. ❜

danced along the contained puddles of mahogany whiskey, hugged by crystal glasses that were somberly cradled by the hands of many—a men that called this certain bar a refuge. It was tucked away in a dark alley, far from the creeping eyes of any unsettling visitors or unwelcome listeners that would find diamonds in a conversation between two of the most important people in the game right now.
— ( 𝑪𝑨𝑹𝑹𝑰𝑳𝑳𝑶 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑷𝑨𝑪𝑯𝑶. ) —
It was an uneasy alliance that made the people around them sick with nerves. A cop is a criminal in the eyes of those who avoid the law, and a criminal is nothing less than a sewer rat that feeds on the unfortunate scraps discarded by the city to survive. There was a metal disdain on both sides, but what is it that Carrillo says? — ❛ An enemy of my enemy is my friend, until that enemy is dead. ❜
By this, by the intensity of such words — it was clear that the colonel does nothing by halves. It was out of the question to wait patiently in a bar by himself while waiting for Pacho to come and meet him on his own terms, no ; it was far simpler for his men to put a restraining, suffocating bag over his head and drag him from his slumber kicking and screaming. It's a good way to get that adrenaline flowing, no? Something a little fiery that the pre-bought whiskey would soothe. And given his rude awakening just now, who would Pacho be to say no?
A cloud of thick smog lay above their heads, smoke draining from Carrillo's held cigarette and leaking from his flared nostrils like a seething bull. Deep-set eyes watched with silent contempt as the taller — but by no means stronger — man sat down in front of him with a sigh that left his lips. Before responding, Horacio lifted his heavy hand and brought his cigarette to his chapped lips, sucking the rest of the burning life from the cigarette before reducing it to silent embers in their shared ashtray.
— ( ❛ Sí, you're right. An uninvited conversation with you would be more than taxing. ❜ )
Carrillo spoke in a voice much unlike his stature ; soft, gentle.
Uneasily calm.
( Perhaps that meant, he simply thought Pacho was not worth verbally scolding? He wasn't worth the hurt in his voice the next day after raising his voice at him for merely more than second? )
— ( ❛ It's been a week and you haven't given us anything fresh. ❜ )

Hola!
I'm new to Tumblr RP but plan to stay as Facebook has gone downhill - I stayed until its downfall but now there's now redeeming it. It's unfortunate but things will go on. I'm not new to writing and have 10+ years experience. I'd like to think I'm literate, until I inevitably make one hundred typos in this welcome text and fuck that all up. Oh well.
I’m super excited to write! My inbox is always open.
I welcome all and any type of interactions, but my rules follow:
I’m a 21+ writer. I won’t write with minors, as my character’s themes are violent, sexual and drug-related. You don’t have to be totally literate to write with me and I welcome all and any lengths.
OCs are just as welcome as canon characters - if not moreso.
Not all interacting characters have to take place in the NARCOS universe, but their setting and RP will be. Adding to that, my mentions of Pablo Escobar will be limited. He will be the lingering shadow in Carrillo’s backstory and nothing more. Though he goes after the cartel, Escobar is history.
Narcos is set during the 70s when Escobar’s infamous cocaine empire was rising to new and dizzying heights. My character - Colonel Horacio Carrillo - leads a force named the Search Bloc against the cartel with a blazing passion to take down any evil in his way. Though his superiors say that he plays too rough and many others have questioned his moral ground, Carrillo continues to be the only driving force that the cartel is scared of.
