Hi so Im Lattie. I use they/them pronouns and I play little Gaspard.Â
There was one thing that could never be denied about Gaspard Dawson and that was, that since he was born, he had always seemed to long for reassurance. From an early age, he would cling to his mother to the point that it was hard for her to get a moment away without him there. She finally left her job thinking it was a possibility that he just wasnt adjusting to the nanny they had hired. Sadly, that wasnt the case. He clung to her most of the day and then when his father came home, didnt leave the mans side. They began to notice that he really responded well to compliments, even being told he did good at a simple task had the boy on a high for hours. This came with the acknowledgement that even the slightest critique had the boy in tears. His grandparents said that his parents needed to be harder on him. That he was too soft and the world would eat him alive but they had none of it. Gaspard was perfect, despite being a bit touchy and they wouldnt change him.
As he grew, this got worse resulting in many public breakdowns in stores as the little toddler screamed at the top of his lungs if she even dared leaving his line of sight. He was difficult, no one would deny this and it caused his parents a lot of headaches as he seemingly longed for something they didnt know how to give. It was around this time that a pacifier was placed lovingly into his mouth. It calmed him, at least enough for them to get things done for periods of time but also had its setbacks. It was hard to learn to talk with a binky in your mouth and it began to crowd his teeth in the front. Around three his parents tried to take him off his pacifier, he developed this little habit of biting back his nails until they bleed. The doctors said it was probably just nerves and other family members gave tips to help him stop. None of them seemed to work. Paired with this was a stutter. At first, it existed on every word, every sentence like a mile the boy couldnt complete. Words in his throat like unwanted peanut butter. His parents took him to a speech therapist and the stutter began to linger on harder words. It definitely made things easier but his father suggested that part of it could be confidence and placed him in acting classes at the local theater. The boy took to it like a moth to a flame and it was almost as if he became a different person altogether. As long as he had a role to play, he was confident and comfortable.
From then on out, Gaspard quickly climbed ranks in the acting community in their town, getting his first newspaper article about him and his talents at age seven and his first radio interview at ten when he played the leading role in the states theater production of Oliver Twist. There was nothing to stand in the way of his determination and confidence in his craft, even if he didnt hold much confidence in his everyday life. When his feet werent gracing a stage, Gaspard was as meek as a mouse lacking a confidence he seemed to strongly convey when acting. He was unsure, stumbling over his words and playing with his hair that it was sometimes hard to believe he was the same boy that enticed an audience on a regular basis. Even when placed into public speaking courses and groups to help him, he seemed to always withdraw when not discussing acting. His parents realized he was just always going to have to deal with the confidence issue but continued to push him in his interest. High school was hard and he was diagnosed with DID which only seemed to ramp up his anxiety and depression. He ended up attempting suicide within his third year of highschool. It was a struggle after that.
After highschool he was able to attend The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. It was a change but a nice one for him and he seemed to thrive in the environment. He met a girl named Penelope and they hit it off immediately. Their friends joked that it was as if they had knew each other forever. They went out on a handful of dates before moving in together. Her parents, on the other hand, hated Gaspard and stopped talking to their daughter, cutting her off completely. Everything seemed to be going his way until he had a mental breakdown, ended up in the hospital again. This became a bit of a reoccuring theme for him throughout his schooling as it happened again 2 years later. Despite this, he pushed through and graduated, landing a role in Spring Awakening on West End and his career took off after this.
Penelope accidentally ended up pregnant but since they had discussed kids and marriage already, the two went along with it. The news got back to her parents and they wanted to be part of Penelopes life again, if only for the new baby. Gaspard and Penelope ended up getting married quickly in a small get together. It was important to her that they were married before their baby came. One rather dreary June night, they had Annabelle and Gaspard knew from the first moment that this little girl had his whole heart. They moved slightly out of London into a flat they could call their own. Gaspard took a few months off acting and Penelope continued on with her writings. Her young adult series so close to being picked up and published. Things settled into a nice safe bliss.
By the time Annabelle was one, Gaspard had made a name for himself in the theater world and Penelopes books were doing well, everyone patiently waiting for the next installment. It was closing night of one of his shows and Gaspard went out with the cast and crew for drinks. He ended up getting too drunk and had to ask Penelope to come pick him up. On her way, she got into a car accident and he was contact by the hospital. One of their mutual friends took him in and early the next morning she passed. Her parents were furious. This began a long battle over custody of Annabelle, Penelopes parents lawyer using everything they could to try to take her away from Gaspard. He didnt get to attend his wifes funeral. Never fully got to say goodbye. After almost a year of court, he was granted full custody of his daughter and when he got the go ahead from the court, he completely left England and moved back to the states. He now currently lives with his high school friend Ashton.
