People finding religion in hard times is not surprising and I truly wish them the best, but I also want to warn them that there will be ultra-conservative versions of that religion that will be presented to them as the only correct interpretation and remind them that it is OK to make your own decisions even as a fresh convert.
Just because someone presents as knowledgeable and religious doesn't mean they know anything about faith. Steer your own ship and don't give up critical thinking.
Ph. Jean Baptiste Mondino
Monks and nature, what more could you want? :)
the Lord watched me bear my teeth at Him like a real feral dog over and over again and He doesn't back away, He actually gets closer
your theology tells me if you fuck or not
what do you think of the people who say they don’t hate queer people but don’t support them? is this concept of loving but not supporting even viable?
this is not loving thy neighbor
Happy pride :)
recently the Synod released a document addressing certain challenges facing the church, and in particular, it's relation to queer people. this includes recieving and analyzing testimony from real queer catholics, without judgement. this is the first time anything like this has happened as far as i can tell. an historic moment for queer catholics and for sure a step in the right direction.
God is good. Our Lady of Montevergine, pray for us
This is one of my favorite quotes in the world.
It is attributed to the great Saint Catherine of Siena
"We’ve had enough exhortations to be silent. Cry out with a thousand tongues- I see the world is rotten because of silence."
How true that is.
Mahmoud Hams, Palestinian resistance fighters offering carnations to nuns at the Catholic Church in Gaza City, 2006
I say, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner" a lot throughout the day- just out of nowhere, mostly, when I feel like it. It brings me more peace than anything
"realistically, femoids would HATE Joan of arc if she were alive today" is a post I saw recently, and all I have to say is.. she is alive today. eternal life after death once you're saved, bro. and in all honesty YOU'D be the one who'd hate her because the sight of a gender nonconforming woman brings you to tears, yes, even a christian one.
same post said "she valued the patriarchy" THE PATRIARCHY IS WHAT KILLED HER
Every time someone thinks I’m like… inherently different from other Christians I’m like “No sweetie. I’m just blindingly white and you see Christianity as an inherently white religion. Black and Brown Christians have been doing what I have been doing for DECADES if not CENTURIES.”
Liberation theology started from BROWN and INDIGENOUS PEOPLE!
Happy Pride Month.
Friendly reminder that the greatest gift God gave you is your ability to love. This idea that your love is less than is a lie made up by the devil himself.
If you are queer then God gave you a gift, because inherently your love is RADICAL just like his. God wants you to experience Radical love with him.
