-Rebecca ducks her smile down and and aims it at the ground with color in her cheers, following him into the alleyway for a satisfactory place to apparate, smiling softly at his words- Then don’t keep yourself away from me. I’m kind of a fan of proximity, actually.Â
-steps closer into her, smiling, pulls out his wand from his back pocket- I'll keep that in mind. -takes a deep breath, keeping their joined hands closer to his body- Ready?
-Rebecca had no recollection of a clear mind before Gavin, and now, there are moments with him where things are just blissfully quiet, and focused, where her mind isn’t running at 110 miles an hour and the time she spends with him is spent with him along, and it’s those quiet moments that make her fall for him, because it’s painfully clear how good his is, despite all the brokenness in his life, and when she tilts her chin upwards to look at him as they walk, she’s graced by one of this still moments, a smile maneuvering back across her lips- It was the best.Â
-That made him smile even more. He wanted to show her a good time and take her mind off things and it seemed like he succeeded in doing just that. Gavin would surely mark it a victory in his book. He squeezed onto her hand as he pulled her into an alleyway- You know, I'm finding it really difficult to keep myself away from you.
-Most of the time, when she’s afraid, it’s for reasons she either can’t say, or for reasons that don’t make sense, or reasons that do, but she doesn’t have the heart or the mental capacity to elaborate on them or admit them out loud. But these days, it’s the little things that catch her in her most unguarded moments. It’s the little lies she tells on a daily basis by saying nothing at all, the thought that the two people she’s trusted with the majority of the story don’t know all the gritty details, they don’t even know some of the blatant ones that she couldn’t say, and as much as they do know, they’ll never know what the blood looked like on her hands, what she thought of herself when it was done, they’ll never know her family member’s last words that she swore to bury with them, and though it’s a stable truth to move past those details, the lies still exist and they chip away at her slowly. And when it comes to Gavin, she’s terrified. She’s terrified that one day she’ll spin off back into her own brand of literal insanity, and she’s terrified that as tightly as he tries to hold her, he won’t be able to hold her together, and she’s terrified that she’ll drag him along with her, and some of the time it feels like their unspoken fears are battling against each other, like thoughts with subliminally frightened messages. But she still presses against him when he wraps his steady arm around her, because he’s still so safe, and if she can hold onto this, maybe she has nothing to be afraid of after all-
-And even with all his hopes, dreams, and aspirations, to be a fraction of the reason why Rebecca smiles somedays and even laughs on others would be the highlight of his life. He's a very simplistic man, hardly gaining any momentum in the more complex areas of his personality, and when it comes down to it, all Gavin truly needs is to know that he's been of some good to someone, somewhere. Even if Rebecca didn't have all the baggage and torment in her life, he knows she'd still be there, helping even though she doesn't know she is, especially in these challenging transition years of his life. As before it ached to be around her -- his heart swelling with the desire to hold her, touch her, and kiss her -- now he's comforted by even a simple sigh. His arm holding her close as they walk to a more appropriate place for apparition- I hope you had a good time tonight.
-the longer the smile remains on her face, the longer someone else’s words start ringing in her ears, and she doesn’t even have to remember what they’re telling her for the smile to slip away, like a secret pact she’s made with a force that hovers over her, forcing complacency upon her instead, but her lips still find a way to curve upwards when his touch her cheek, and she takes his hand without hesitation this time, following him out of the photobooth-
-Gavin wishes he could fix everything for her. However, his Ravenclaw prowess doesn't extend to the impossible. On some other level of existence, he wants to believe that he can heal her in every way imaginable. This belief is often what keeps him going. Gavin doesn't want to think of his life as a child of a middle-class, single parent to be worth nothing. His mother didn't put him through life with four jobs at a time for Gavin Thorpe to result to nothing. He wants to heal her wounds in both her heart and mind, fix everything that she broke, bring back the things she lost as though they were never gone to begin with. He wants to fill those holes in her life but there's a fear that he isn't great enough to fill those holes and there are just so many of them. One day, he often tells himself. One day he'll figure it out and it'll eventually figure itself out, but what happens when one day is today and then one day is tomorrow and then he runs out of time and she turns out like every other person he tried to save. This thought often haunts him and it's always in the back of his mind, but her smile is the one thing that keeps it bay. So, his eyes linger on her face a little longer, clutching her hand as he pulls her from the booth and into the street. The sun is beginning to set and there's a light nip in the air, he drapes an arm around her, keeping her safe with just his arms for the time being-
-laughs as soon as she sees the photo strip, the look lighting up her features in amusement, looking over each frame quietly for a moment before she turns her smile up towards him- I will.Â
-merlin, she's so freaking cute when she smiles all bright like that and, like always, he wonders why he can't see that expression more often than the ones she gives when she doesn't realize he's looking. Gavin just sighs, leaning in to give her a quick kiss on the cheek before exiting the photobooth, offering his hand to her soon after-
-smiles softly, and she reluctantly slips off his lap, sitting on the bench next to him now- I guess we should attempt to avoid that, yes.Â
-leans over and peeks out of the opening of the photobooth, smiling as he reaches over and grabs the two photo strips, examining them, laughing at their pathetic attempts as silly faces, and hands one over- There you go. Keep it safe.Â
-a small smile curves up on her lips, because he’s got this way of making all those bad thoughts go away, and she’s grateful for that reprieve, even if that doesn’t erase them from her past, and she whispers back, her voice nervous and quiet, the smile audible in her tone- This is okay. This is very okay.Â
Good. -he nods, followed by a sigh of relief. He could hear the sound of shop goers pass by the booth, realizing that they can't stay in here forever, no matter how badly he wants to- I supposed we should at least attempt to get you back now. I don't want McGonagall coming after my head.
-her eyes open slowly, and his smile is the first thing she sees, lighting up his features, crinkling the corners of his eyes, and though it’s a word she doesn’t like to think - because sometimes it can be a word that can be full of lies and expectations and downfalls, it can be dark and disastrous and pressuring - it feels perfect. and not the perfect she was told to feel on a dark august night, the last time she saw her worst nightmare, the sort of perfect he told her to stay with his sick voice whispering in her ear and his unwelcome hands on her. this was the right kind of perfect, but as both definitions swirled in her head, the memory of the dark perfect, she felt dizzy. and though he’d tried to convince her to be certain, she felt, now more than ever, unsure of how someone so innately beautiful could look at her with that smile, that laugh, could hold her with welcome hands, when she was so immeasurably flawed-Â
Is this okay for you? -he whispers, obviously noticing some sort of hesitance in her expression, though he not entirely sure of what he's asking- You could tell me if we're moving too fast, you know. I'd understand.
-it’s always something that’s felt comfortable about Gavin, the fact that he always feels to be aware of her limits. She wishes she didn’t have to be the way she was, half the time feeling fragile enough to fracture and fall apart, but his caution almost makes her feel reinforced, stronger than she ever does on her own. When he pulls her to him, she moves willingly, her hands still on his chest as she brings herself up on his lap, breaking when he does to breathe, her eyes still closed, no further distance created between them other than her lips, which curve into a genuinely happy smile-Â
-his hands roam down her sides and to her lower back, still keeping her close. He looks her over, swallowing down a pinch of nervousness. She's so incredibly beautiful and he wants to tell her that over and over and over again, scream it to the world, announce how much of a positive change she's made in his life without even trying. There are so many things Rebecca doesn't know, but it's telling her that's the hard part. Once it's out there, it's out there, in the air, and there's still a possibility (even if small) that she doesn't feel as strongly for him as he does for her, and that's enough to make him hesitate. Yet here she is, so close to him that he can hear the unsteadiness in her breathing, and it makes him smile more, even letting out a nervous laugh-Â
-her heart is pounding madly, but she ignores her nerves as she parts her lips a little as well, her lips moving with his with a want she’s hidden before, but it makes it’s way into her actions slowly, cautiously as she kisses him-Â
-is a very careful with Rebecca enough as it is, but when he's kissing her, his hands move slowly, as if any sudden movements would break her completely. He pulls her onto him, pausing only for a second to adjust himself and catch his breath, feeling completely lightheaded and in disbelief that this is happening with Rebecca in a friggin' photobooth and he couldn't be happier-
-
-is small and safe and warm in here with just him, and even though the photobooth has taken it’s last photo, she moves closer to him, kissing him back softly, placing her hand gently on his chest-Â
-is certainly fond of her reaction as he kisses her, not intending to leave the photobooth anytime soon, and so he deepens the kiss, daring himself to press even closer against her, lips parted slightly-

-lets her face move as he turns it to face him, and she gives a bright smile before she realizes what he’s doing and and her breath catches a little when his lips press against hers and shes sees the flash of the camera from behind closed eyes-Â
-his lips mold against hers, finding himself more comfortable hidden within the photobooth than out in the middle of the rink, his arm falling from her shoulders as his hand presses against her back-
-laughs, letting go of her cheek, and she ends up having the same idea, which makes for one goddamned cute photo as they both are sitting there leaning against each other, which she realizes a second after the photo goes off as a warmer grin stretches across her face-Â
-the next is a little risky, but they only have a couple of photos left and so he wants to make them count. Gavin touches her face, moving her head so she's looking at him, and the countdown ends just before he leans in to press his lips against hers-
