(this list is mainly ways non-locals can donate but by extension offers a lot of resources and places to volunteer in the Twin Cities + there are specific ways to donate time under the cut which can be adjusted to your local neighborhood)
Memorial Blood CenterĀ declared a blood emergency on Tuesday, Jan 13. MBC is the blood supplier for both tier 1 trauma hospitals in the metro area (Hennepin County Medical Center and North Memorial Health).
Reach out to your neighborsĀ āĀ especially if you know they are staying home right now āĀ and ask if they need groceries or toiletry items. Offer to pick up prescriptions, give rides, or shovel their driveway. If you know them well, bring them a treat that you know they'll enjoy. Or just ask them how they're doing and let them know you are there to support.
Connect with any of the orgs aboveĀ and see if they are looking for volunteers.
Connect with a church or mosque in your area.Ā FromĀ u/MuddieMaeSuggins: "I know a lot of regular Redditors are not religious (myself included) but like it or not this is a where a lot of community organizing happens, especially in immigrant communities."
Connect with your local school's admin office and/or their PTA.Ā It's ok to reach out even if you don't have kids at the school. PTAs are organizing mutual aid for school families, safe rides, school observers.
Find an official protestĀ or other event viaĀ Indivisible,Ā 50501,Ā FREE AMERICA, orĀ MIRAC. Students at many high schools areĀ staging walk-outs; if your local school is doing this, reach out to school leadership or the PTA and ask how you can support as a community member.
Join the effort to stop Hilton from housing ICEĀ by booking hotel rooms and then cancelling at the last minute. This action can be done from home! The effort is being organized by Sunrise Movement, who are telling activists to target specific hotels one-by-one. More info:Ā SHUT DOWN HILTON
Find people in your area who are actively monitoring ICEĀ and/or stationing themselves in high-traffic areas and ask how you can help. Check for local FB events where people are organizing and just show up.
At minimum, read theĀ COPAL HandbookĀ before you go out to observe.Ā The DFL, Monarca, and other orgs have been hosting online trainings for constitutional observers (though these fill up quickly).
When you see ICE in action, start recording. Be as loud and as disruptive as possible: honk your horn, set off your car alarm, blow your whistle. Let people know that ICE is in the area. If you see someone being detained, try to get their name and a phone number to call their emergency contact.
If you do not feel comfortable observing ICE in person, there are ways you can support from home. Just ask the people who are organizing in your area. I have social anxiety, and I had never participated in any kind of political action before this past Saturday. If I can do it, you can!
Local organizers are requesting that people who help monitor ICE DO NOT participate in 1-to-1 mutual aid efforts, as these can put the families you are helping at risk.
If you have friends/acquaintances who are sympathetic but not politically active,Ā reach out to them. Show them that they're not alone in feeling helpless. Pick a few low-commitment actions from this list and do them together.
pantalone should have a pyro delusion he doesnt use for combat only for lighting cigerettes or better yet an electro one to make sparks that fit his color scheme. this pisses dottore off because first he uses a delusion that drains lifeforce and then he only uses it to smoke shit that kills him can his doctor catch a break

Reminder that Pantalone is not named after pants. Pants are named after Pantalone.
Our modern English word pants comes directly from the 16th century commedia dellāarte stock character Pantalone, whose costume famously included a pair of egregiously tight-fitted trousers.
Pantaloneās outfit was so well-known that, when similar trousers came into fashion in the late 1600s, they were referred to as pantaloons because of him. This is where we get the shortened words pants and panties, so heās pretty much a fashion icon.
Extra fun fact: the stock characterās name might have been a tongue-in-cheek reference to Saint Pantaleon, patron saint of doctors.
Yeah⦠yeah...
Commedia dellāarte history, a sprinkle of Shakespeare, and some thoughts on the patron saint of physicians ā
Commedia Dellāarte Background
Unlike a lot of modern theatre, commedia dellāarte performances arenāt scripted. Instead, theyāre more like highly-structured improv where performers take on the roles of stock characters and act out comedic scenarios following an outline from the Director (hi Pierro).
Most scenarios are built around pairs of archetypes, which include:
Vecchi, the old men (Pantalone, Dottore)
Zanni, the trickster servants (Colombina, Arlecchino, Pulcinella)
Innamorati, the lovers
and then a handful of other characters that combined tropes such as Capitano, Signora, or Scaramuccia
To ensure the audience could immediately recognize stock roles across scenarios, these characters needed distinctive looks that could be carried from town to town, generation to generation. To that end, each character had a unique mask and costume tied to their characteristics.
Pantaloneās was one of the most recognizable by far.
Pantalone as a Stock Character
Pantaloneās inclusion among the stock characters dates back to at least the mid-1500s. As one of the principle āantagonistsā (along with his foil, Dottore), Pantalone was often the catalyst of the action making up many of the routines. So he needed a recognizable appearance.
And, whoo boy, did he get one.
Keep in mind that the commedia dellāarte was hyperbolic. Everything was exaggerated, and Pantalone was the ultimate exaggeration of a greedy, lecherous, materialistic old man prone to emotional outbursts.
One of the defining features of Pantaloneās outfit were his long, red, extremely tight trousers, a stark contrast to the more common wide knee-breeches worn at the time. These were so tight that they flaunted his codpieceāa piece of fabric that cups the genitals. During the Renaissance, codpieces had started to become increasingly padded and sculpted, not to hide the crotch but rather to call attention to it.
(In some cases, instead of wearing the codpiece, Pantalone would wear a strategically-placed money pouch around his waist, and you can probably imagine what that looked like... )
The effect was meant to be vulgar and comedic. Hereās an old, greedy, horny man whose tight trousers and slippers make him look frail, yet heās walking around with his hips cocked, showing off a his codpiece.
The audience found him hilarious because raunchy humour never goes out of style. And yet, while he satirized the ego-driven fool, he also served as a melancholic musing on aging. Even Shakespeare nods to this role in As You Like It, when the fool Jaques gives one of his most famous monologues on the link between life and theatre:
All the worldās a stage
...
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipperād pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side
Thatās our guy, a representative not only of older characters but also of older actors whose time on the stage was coming to a close.
When long, tight-fitted breeches came into fashion in England during the Restoration Era in the late 1600s, they were called pantaloons after the Anglicized name Pantalone. He was so popular that the role defined an entire clothing item.
By the 1700s, pantaloons came to be used to refer to any long trouser, regardless of cut and also began to denote womenās undergarments as well (earliest record for that is from 1797). Pantaloons was eventually shortened to pants, and it also gives us the word panties. Do with that information what you will.
The Patron Saint of Doctors
Thereās been a lot of speculation over where the name Pantalone came from in the first place, since the earliest attested records are from the commedia dellāarte itself.
One of the potential inspirationsāand the one noted in the Oxford English Dictionary as the likely etymological rootāis San Pantalon (Saint Pantaleone), a Christian martyr who was condemned to death for miracles of healing and who earned the title all-compassionate for begging Heaven to forgive his executioners.
San Pantalon was a popular saint in Venice, and Pantalone is one of the primary Venetian characters in the commedia dellāarte. The audience would absolutely recognize the irony that the extraordinarily greedy stock character Pantalone is named after an all-compassionate saint who, notably, gave all his money to the poor.
What makes this potential origin so so delightful is the fact that Pantaleon is a patron saint of physicians
Given that Dottore and Pantalone had a deeply intertwined relationship in the commedia dellāarteāas sometimes rivals, often friends, always ridiculous togetherāthis also feels quite fitting. (Pantaleon is also the patron saint of lottery winners, funny enough, so that works here too.)
"Are you suggesting I worship you as a god?" "No, but as a Saint might be nice."
Wearing the Pants
All this to say: the reason we have the modern word pants is because of the stock character Pantalone. Our Ninth Harbinger is not named after the clothing item, heās its etymological origin. His costume helped bring them into fashion.
So the ludicrously tight pants he wears in Genshin? Canon event. He started that trend. Give this man his royalties, please.
August is the 'all is lost' of months. Everything is hot and sweaty and bright and everyone is sick of summer activities but you gotta keep goin. September is dark night of the soul and October is break into act 3. You just gotta break into act three queen.
So do we think Dottore and Pantalone got divorced every few decades when one of them inevitably did something really out-of-pocket only to end up right back here in this room...
There is no better feeling in the world than going absolutely apeshit insane with a fellow blorbo expert when you stumble across a whole pile of brand new Themes that were hidden in plan sight all along, holy shit
