i didnât think i would have to say this to my own followers but⊠this is not a pro-âship and let shipâ blog, i do not believe in anything being âjust fictionâ or what have you⊠criticizing and demanding better from content creators, culture shapers, isnât âabuse,â âharassment,â or âbullying,â itâs social responsibility.
this isnât just an âunfollow me if you [whatever]â post, this is a post asking you as a member of society to please consider the impact you can have. iâm not looking to pick fights with people whose minds i wonât change, but this isnât something iâm willing to budge or compromise on. if you follow me, youâve involved yourself with me, and now iâm pleading with you, person to person:
consider the impact of your words, actions, and creations. about race, about age gaps and abuse, about gender, all that jazz. fiction is used to groom and oppress just as much as itâs used to empower and embolden. we all play a role in shaping society.
Iâm pretty sure they also told people that the lgbt couple in this season would die, /before the season aired?/ because I think that the fact they /told/ us that, to make sure we had the right expectations, says a lot
to be honest, i havenât been caught up to date with everything the producers said, so if anyone has a source for this, please send it my way so i can see! but yeah, if the producers told us that this was going to happen before hand, itâs definitely not something that should be labeled queerbaiting :/
!!!
I might get shit for this but ppl are making it seem like the queens of Durenâs only defining trait is that they were lesbians and thatâs the only reason why they were mad that they died, not that they were parents or they were queens who were loved and respected by their people and yâall complain like this isnât the 2nd season of the show; itâs still too early Iâm sure weâll get plenty of weâll written lgbt+ rep in later seasons
youâre right and you should say it

no offense but
TDP season two was fucking amazing. The representation, character development, and relationships were all spot on perfect. But, as usual, there are things people have found to complain about.
People are mad the queens of Duren were killed, and yeah, it would be nice to see that LGBT rep in one of the characters we see more often, but donât think, even for a second, that this is another âbury your gaysâ trope. The queens of Duren werenât killed without reason; they sacrificed themselves to protect their kingdom, Katolis, and their daughter. They had a purpose to the overall storyline, and they are the reason the human kingdoms survived the winter. And their deaths led to the queen of Duren we see now, and sheâs a damn good queen.
This is NOT queerbaiting. This is NOT the same as what happened with v/d. This is NOT reason to be mad at the producers.
The queens of Duren are beautiful examples of interracial, LGBT rep, and while theyâre no longer alive, Iâm so glad we got them. If the show continues as it has been, with each season representing one of the primal powers, the show isnât even half way over. The queens of Duren werenât the first and (hopefully) wonât be the last of our LGBT rep. The story isnât over.
