Taking the ferry
So I took the ferry today to head to Hanlan’s point beach to meet with some friends. On the ferry ride back I learned an interesting and kind of obvious lesson. I was looking towards the head of the ferry, watching the approaching waters and I thought to myself that we’re not moving very fast, and in that moment I felt as though we weren’t moving at all. To orient myself I decided I would look behind me. When I looked back, I watched as the water sped away from us with such intensity, I realized how fast we were actually going. It made me realize a very simple and comforting truth about life. Often we find ourselves struggling with the idea that we’re not moving forward, or getting to our goals. We just have to remind ourselves to take a look behind, and see how far you’ve come. Then you’ll see how much you have accomplished and that you’re so much closer to your goals than you think. Never forget why you started and never give up on that which you want most. You are moving forward, it’s just sometimes difficult to see that looking ahead. Take a look behind you. You are so much more than you think you are, because you’ve come so much farther than you ever thought you could.
