For my Threshold Project, I used the Eruv that runs along Miami Beach shores. I used the symbolic meaning of the Eruv: An imaginary wall that transforms a public space into a private space. I created my own Eruv from a fishing line in which I hanged trash collected from the beach shores, and I placed this Eruv parallel to the Eruv at the beach. My first motivation was to create an installation that can raise awareness of the pollution of the ocean and the beach shores, but when doing a previous intervention with another Eruv, I realized, that I needed more information from the public , so I did took two videos and a series of pictures from which I started raising up more questions. But I decide to leave this questions raised by the viewers . The point of view from were I take this shots are from the Inside, the Private space, which is for me the city, and the ocean side is the public space, the place I chose to hang the objects is the threshold, and is in here that The question of we’re doing these objects belong to? In the private or the public space. I believe people understand that leaving the objects at the beach is ok, because the public space is public. The pictures in which the child interacts with the Eruv, is a document to explore, from different angles, the child going under the Eruv, crossing from the public to the private space created, made me decide the title for this project.
