Thanks so much for the compliment!Well, it’s actually quite easy. The best thing to do is find a horse who’s easy to take photos of, for example those last photos of Q were made when there were still some fireworks going of, and Q is quite afraid of them, so that’s a 100% chance of having photos of a horse that’s paying attention and with his/her ears up front. It’s also very easy when you have a second person who can help you, e.g to hold your horse, make noises/movements so your horse is paying attention, or when you want action photos, to let your horse run. I’m always alone, and I can tell you that it’s sometimes really difficult. Also I stress you to make a lot of pictures. My camera isn’t very good, for some reasons it can’t make sharp pictures anymore, so when I make e.g 100 photos, 10 of them are good/sharp enough to use. What I also do, is first shoot some pictures on ‘auto’ mode, and when I’m happy with the pictures I have I start to play around with the settings and try out new things. So I’m sure I always have some good photos :) And the most important note: practice! Don’t expect to immediately make 100% sharp photos with perfect lighting, because that ain’t gonna happen. Pick an easy object that’s always in the same position (a fence for example) and just try out all different things. How does the sun affect your photos? What happens when you open or close the diaphragm? That kind of stuff, just play around and get to know your camera, create a bit of your own style; and then think about how you like your pictures to be. I like lots of colours and close-up pictures, but maybe you are more of a landscape person. Just find that out about yourself. Quintos is skinny...

I know he is. He’s turning 27 this year, and he’s got Cushing’s disease/PPID which makes it a bit harder to get him fat. He also got a really rough summer; he was extremely thin so I’m really happy that he’s looking so good right now, I couldn’t wish for more! This are of course just a couple of lame reasons, but I can assure that he’s being well fed. He’s got unlimited hay throughout the day, he’s in the field for at least 9 hours every day of the year (24/7 in summer) and he’s got the concentrates, supplements and medication he needs. :) and this reply got a little longer than I wanted but ok
