Applying oil painting techniques to textured ground. Lots of low opacity edge control. Layering textures and brushstrokes bit by bit to get a distinct result. I think what tends to happen with edge control is that it becomes easy to neglect the intensity of the different edges. It can be easy to tell that an edge is soft or hard, but how soft or hard it is can be hard to pin down. Going to try and build up some mileage doing things this way. I’ll maybe dial back the texture work, but a sweet spot won’t be found for quite some time. Just going to keep experimenting until i get something solid and consistent.
