hey, I was wondering if you could help me out..I bought a skateboard a couple of months back but it was already decorated. I want to cover it with pictures of bands etc but I'm not sure what type of glue to use, if I need to sand it first or if I can just stick things over the filmy surface. Also, are there any good types of gloss/coat you'd recommend to prevent any wear & tear to the images if they can be stuck on the board? any advice or tips would be much appreciated. thanks :)

well, there is no simple answer to any of that.  if your board's graphic is mostly likely a heat transfer of some sort.  so for 100% assurance, yes you would sand it off.  but, its a skateboard.   as far as glue goes, there are several options and it depends on how you want to finish it... you could use an epoxy resin.  coat the board in it, put your pics on before it cures and cover in the resin again before it cures.  (west systems 105 epoxy resin system)   but thats expensive and somewhat toxic... Decoupage glue and a lot of coats of lacquer or even a sherwin williams waterborne topcoat works pretty ok.... but the resin is more permanent
