This Juneteenth weekend was beautiful, I love being in Leimert on a regular day but to see how many of my ppl came out to celebrate our existence despite our experience was breathtaking! It was good just seeing homies and loved ones alive and well. Definitely gave some real handshakes and hugs but for the sake of love but it was worth it! It’s that same mindset that I adopt within my life rn and hope to carry on when it’s my time to be a father. The Black Wombman 🖤❤️💚 With so many tragedies occurring currently and with all that preceded the murder of George Floyd, I wanted to take the time to give flowers to black women. You truly are the most disrespected and neglected, and it’s disheartening to see. This isn’t new information for myself, however I will say what happened to Oluwatoyin Salau was an occurrence I couldn’t even fathom, which hurts me to my core. Every black man came from a black woman and that alone makes y’all sacred. Black women are grannys, mothers, wives, aunties, sisters, cousins, nieces, daughters...and if you as a black man have any in your life then it’s your duty to protect them and make sure they’re safe! Covid Coop. So I did something over this time in quarantine, and it’s in the process of getting the final touches and verses in. Many of you only know me for photos and maybe clothing but only a select few know that I’ve dabbled in music over the years. This project was a mix of self exploration and pure experimentation. I went in with the idea of wanting to just record for fun and it grew into this offering. I did this for myself and the youth in the city of San Bernardino. After a successful day of hittin the @drewleague to watch some summer hoop. @_mrbrown & myself headed to the arts district for @midnightstudios first “Midnight Rave”. Upon arrival we were presented the option of buying a tee for entry or going home. In a matter of mins, @skippermcphee(who is now like a fairy godmother to me) came out of nowhere and asked if we could cover the event for her and the US affiliate for @honeyee.com_webmagazine . We accepted and the rest is what they say history! Over the last 3 years I’ve seen my life trend upwards in unimaginable ways and I’ve very GRATEFUL to every soul that helped me get here. Never stop going for your dreams, I’m living proof that the opportunity to get your foot in the door exists! Peace & Love to all the shooters, creatives, and everyone tryna figure out what to do rn, I implore you to check back in with the kid inside of you and reconnect with them and enjoy wherever it takes you!
