So, here is a bit of an academic exercise for those of my non-transgender friends. I will give you several prompts and all you need to do is one at a time, come up with the answer and then just think about it for a moment. Which is your dominant hand? Who do you love? Men or women? Is your gender male or female? Now, just think about your answer for a moment, and when you are sure of your answer, try to explain this to yourself.. HOW DO YOU KNOW??? DID SOMEONE TELL YOU TO BE THAT WAY WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG? I am sure that your answer is going to be something similar to this... WELL, I JUST KNOW. IT FEELS RIGHT. IT'S WHO I AM. I WAS BORN THIS WAY. Now you know how I feel being transgender. No one told me, no one coerced me, I have just known all of my life who I really am. Unfortunately, I was told that I was a boy and had to act like a boy, when in fact I knew I wasn't. It's the same way that left-handed people were forced to learn how to write with their right hand because that was considered "normal". Eventually, everyone realized that doing that was wrong, that there are some people who simply write with their left hand because they are left-handed and that is "normal" for them. Trying to change them was eventually considered wrong and that letting them be themselves and use their left hand was perfectly fine. It's the same with being transgender, or gay, or lesbian, or non-binary... being who we are is as normal as you being Who You Are! Telling us that we need to change because it's not normal is wrong, because we really do know who we are!
