Meet Eddie the Goose - Eddie was abandoned by his family on one of our sites. We found him flipped over and unable to walk or stand, one of his siblings was found deceased not far from him. He undoubtedly ingested either a pesticide or fertilizer while grazing with his family in one of the busy corporate parks in Farmingdale, NY. As the Northern Territories start to get colder weather and snow ❄️

We will begin to get more geese here on the island as they begin to migrate south 🏖

Long Island is directly in their flight pattern as the Geese fly down the east coast for warmer territory 🛩

They will stop here to graze and rest until we get heavy snow BUT as long as they are able to get to the grass to eat, they will not leave 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

One of the best parts of our job is every once and a while we get to save one of these birds. 😍

Last summer, three goslings were separated from their family when we cleared a corporate property in a densely populated area in Garden City. 😢

The two families ran one way and these three ran another. Without the guidance of their parents they would not have survived the night, let alone navigated through 4 lanes of rush hour traffic. 🥺

We managed to catch them before they ran into a major roadway. Later on that day, after feeding them and insuring that they had no injuries - we drove around that area for an hour looking for the families in which they belonged to. 🧐

Needless to say we found them! Once we pulled the bin out of the car and their parents heard their "peeps", they ran over immediately to claim them. It was pretty incredible to see. 🥰

Both families never returned to that street and they remained in an area that was safe for them until they could fly elsewhere. 😊
