This is my small, cosy space all painted :) Managed to finally get my shelf up with some help and really happy with how it looks. Set up all the doll parts etc. and added the text after glueing all of the separate bits of paper together. I will stick them on properly tomorrow :) Need to give the floor a bit of a clean as well!

#Final Piece

I luckily have a shelf in my room that I could use to see how my final piece would look. I have started to use some text as another element of communicating my thoughts. The text is thoughts that my twin sister and I have had towards some people's comments about us being twins and the other line is comments that people have actually made towards us being twins. Some are negative comments and some are stupid. I really think this will round of my piece and make a bigger impact.

It's really fun trying out different ways of creating my final piece. I want it to stand out and look visually interesting but at the same time don't want to over complicate things with too much going on so I just have to find that balance.

Experimenting with different ways of presenting the dolls. I have found a use for the hook thing! I love the arms hanging like this, a lot of people have said it looks quite creepy etc. I don't want to over decorate the piece and make it look to confusing as people might not be able to tell what I'm trying to communicate.

I was researching Siamese twins and started to mess around with my dolls trying to join them together as sometimes people see us that way mostly because we are together a lot and unbelievably think we are the same person! I pleated their hair together to show the twin connection also ... in some pictures they look like mirror image twins.

This probably looks like pictures of the same doll over and over again but if you look closely you will see slight variations and alterations that I made. I started off with an all pink dress and an all blue dress. I then cut the sleeves etc. off each dress and stitched them to the opposite dress. I am really pleased with how they turned out and I'm basically trying to show that 2 things might look really similar but if you look closely there are differences - a bit like twins. I chose to wear mostly blue clothing as a child and my sister wore pink... even now we still don't mix our colours up , I always wear more cooler colours where as my sister wears warmer colours.

Started to make slight changes to this fine little box, basically removed all of the old, crappy lining inside and scraped out the paper which made it look a lot neater and ready to start working with. I would like to use this gold, painted hook thing and have a few ideas in mind that I will need to try out :)

some close ups of the doll faces and different arrangements of their limbs. I think these experiments were quite useful and it has helped me with ideas for my project.

I got these dolls from the ' Hearing Dogs For The Deaf ' second hand shop in Musselburgh. I thought they resembled my sister and I the most which is helpful as my project is based loosely on how people see us as twins. I then chopped off their arms and legs as I feel these would look more interesting on their own. I found the mini wardrobe thing in a charity shop also and thought it would come in handy for my project. I want to paint it and roughen it up a bit and then see how it looks.
