The days sometimes all blended into one another while Gemma was here, in this cabin. She had half hoped somebody would come by and find her, just so that she wouldn’t be alone. She was terrified of being recognised every time she went into town to steal some supplies, but at the same time she almost found herself wishing that it would happen. That something would happen. The hiding. The waiting. The isolation. This was too much for her and also not enough.
nathan-douglas:
“Oh? Why not?” He blinked then, staring at Gemma for a moment before sighing a little bit “It doesn’t matter.” Frowning a little bit he shrugs a shoulder “I guess that’s right, this doesn’t matter. Nothing Matters.”
Gemma rolled her eyes. Why the fucking hell did he think? She didn’t say anything, averting her gaze again and looking down at her nails. “Yep. Nothing matters.”
nathan-douglas:
Slowly he looked over after Gemma had scoffed at him. He narrowed his eyes a little before letting out a breath “Do you think it matters? If you are dead, does having a birthday even have a point? What about if no one ever cared you were even born in the first place…Birthday’s were celebrated mostly for marketing purposes. But still, it’s meant to make the person born feel important, special. All I’ve felt on my birthday, for a long time…Is empty.” Much like how he often felt. Nathan looked away then, humming again as he was thinking.
“What?” Gemma looked up, stunned at what he’d even said. She glanced around, panicked. “You shouldn’t say things like that out here.” She hissed as her head spun back round towards him. He should be more careful who he spoke to about being dead these days, regardless of whether Gemma had figured out herself that she was too. “But no. It doesn’t matter.” Nothing mattered.
“It’s my birthday. Interesting.” Nathan mumbled a bit absently as he was sitting. He let out a breath then, humming lightly to himself.
Gemma rolled her eyes as she looked up and saw who it was who was mumbling. Great. Mister Mental. She scoffed, looking away again. As if she actually gave a damn.

Calling the younger girl out wasn’t quite what he expected. Darren was being met with a lot of attitude. His head tilted to the side, a bit offended. Did she think he was stupid. “Riight, paid for. So you handed a cashier money before you left and she just didn’t want to give you any bags to carry your groceries in?” he asked, not buying into the lie. Two brows raised before he nodded a bit in agreement. It really wasn’t any of his business. “You’re right, I really shouldn’t be the one to get involved. Maybe I’ll just tip off the store manager I saw a shoplifter and give him your description. Sure he can pull up all he needs to know on the cameras and take it from there.”
“I just love how you know everything about everything that ever happens, that’s amazing.” Gemma shot at him, rolling her eyes. “I didn’t want a bag, I brought one. What’s the big fucking deal?” Mentioning the manager and the cameras, Gemma took a step backwards, ready to bolt. Great. She’d just find somewhere else to steal from but this place clearly had the most brands. “Do whatever you want.” She snapped, gripping the strap hard between her fingers as she glared at him. She needed to get out of here before somebody who recognised her came along.... and promptly had a heart attack at the dead girl walking. “Mind your own fucking business next time.” Gemma huffed as she turned to storm off.

The stranger seemed a bit out of it. Darren noticed the lack of grocery bags and how the food wasn’t exactly packed away correctly. The way she twisted to look back at the store made it click in his mind. “You’re welcome, I guess.” The reply was short, given he put it together that she was stealing food. The little eye roll he found to be rude and he let out a sigh. “You plan on paying for all of that at some point?”
Gemma zipped the bag back up hastily and was set to hurry off, back away to her isolation at the cabin, when the guy spoke again and she lifted her head, looking at him sharply. Gemma frowned. “It is paid for.” She snapped at him, slinging the bag over her shoulder. “Not that it’s any of your business.”

Seven years ago, Gemma was seventeen and everything in life was served to them on a silver platter. She was beautiful, rich and never had to lift a finger. As they grew up it became obvious that Gemma was incredibly popular and the person everyone wanted to be friends with. Gemma continuously used this to her advantage and would bring someone new in their friend group, only to use them as a slave in a way. One night, Gemma was having a sleepover in their family’s summer cabin. Gemma usually didn’t have time for sleepovers, as the teen had just landed a new modeling job and was preparing to go to Paris, Tokyo, and dozens of other extravagant places. Though the night of the sleepover wasn’t the night Gemma expected would be her last night on earth. Gemma was someone who got bored easily, so without any hesitation, she sent out a mass invite to a party. Within two hours, the house was full with drunk young adults. After a couple drinks and some drugs, Gemma went walking along the edge of the forest and was snatched and tied to a tree in the middle of the woods.
The captor had left her without food or water for days, before finally coming back to torture her at first. Though after the slaps and the beatings, Gemma didn’t think there would be anything else. Finally, he brutally raped her to the point where Gemma lay on the ground, half-conscious and bleeding out onto the ground everywhere. Finally, he took his knife and stabbed her, once, twice, three times. He finished it off by twisting the knife in her abdomen, when she finally gave her last breath and gave up in the fight, having lost a lot of blood and also, the will to live. In the wake of her death, the town was left in misery. Gemma may have been the biggest bitch to ever live, but she was the one person everyone had wanted to be. Everyone wanted to be Gemma Pearson.
▲ personality. ▲
Gemma is, in plain terms, a bitch. Incredibly selfish and only cares about her own success over others. Although Katya was her best friend, she was more than willing to throw her under the bus if it came to it. Gemma loves fashion and likes getting the attention of others. She was not afraid to show some skin. Gemma also cares deeply about her body image, and would often force herself to vomit in order to lose weight, classifying her as a bulimic. Because of this, Gemma was always underweight, and it only added to her crabbiness.
▲ after the blackout. ▲
Gemma woke up in the woods, seven years after dying, in the same clothes she was murdered in. Confused and unaware of the fact that she was dead, all she could remember was being raped. The scene played over and over again in her mind. She felt like she was going crazy. She remembered the party are the summer cabin. Before she got there, she saw an old friend, Katya and reached out, pleading for help. However, Katya ran away, leaving Gemma infuriated. Gemma decided to set up camp in the summer cabin, knowing that their family hardly ever used it. She found clean clothes and began stealing food from the small convenience stores in order to survive. She’s alone and confused as to why Katya is suddenly a young adult, let alone realize that she’s dead.
▲ relationships. ▲
▲ Katya Kitashi: Katya was a girl who Gemma had brought into her friend group. Gemma could recognize that Katya was different from the other girls who so desperately wanted to be in their friend group. Gemma wouldn’t ever admit this, though she was always jealous of Katya.
▲ Summer Bosley: Gemma had worked with Summer before and since their first meeting Gemma didn’t like the girl. Her reasoning was because Summer never gave her the attention she’d wanted. Overall, Summer didn’t have any interest in being her friend, or a part of her squad and like the spoiled brat Gemma is, they took it offensively.

A couple of groceries needed to be picked up and then he had the rest of the day to relax. Darren turned the corner to enter the store, coming face to face with a stranger. Bending over, he was quick to pick up the loaf of bread. “At least it wasn’t eggs.” he said, looking at the bright side of the situation. The loaf was held out for her to take back. “Here you go.”
Gemma’s thoughts were racing and she felt so exposed out here. She hadn’t bumped into anyone she used to know after that night in the woods when she’d woken up. Thankfully she’d never had a repeat. “What? Oh, right. Yeah.” She managed to get out, grateful it hadn’t been obvious she’d been stealing. She glanced over her shoulder but the workers weren’t paying attention. Amateurs. “Thanks I guess.” Gemma wasn’t usually quite so polite but she was having a tough time staying grounded. She added a little eye roll for good measure as she stepped away from the entrance of the shop.
The holidays had been more of the same as far as Gemma was concerned. Gemma had stayed in hiding as long as she could but now her supply was running low and she had decided to take the trip into town to stock up again. After scurrying round the rather busy shop and grabbing what she could, Gemma had hurried back out. The second she threw the door open however, a loaf of bread fell from the bag she’d been concealing everything in. “Ugh. Shit...”

Jackson nodded at that before laughing a little bit, nervously “What else is new. Christmas is just one more day that’s made to make us spend money on it in the end, right?” Of course he was going to get stuff, as well as give stuff. So he really didn’t have much else to say on the matter “Well, I have work. I should be going.”
Gemma couldn’t quite think of Christmas right now without remembering that she was dead and likely wouldn’t see any of her family ever again. Or her friends... Katya ran away and she hadn’t seen her since. “Right, yeah. see ya.”
