“Would you like some help looking for them? We can play detective and snoop through people’s stuff.”
“I don’t want to snoop, I want my shoes! I’ll pay you ten dollars to find them, though, if you really want to nerd out like Sherlock Holmes.”
“Dude, you had me at make it ourselves. Can you teach me? I’m horrible with desserts and have a slight pie addiction.”
“There’s a reason I said ourselves. You didn’t really think I would serve you like a maid, did you? It’s really simple, the recipe I use. Honestly it takes about twenty minutes tops. Go fetch me the raspberries, they’re on the top shelf in the minifridge.”
"I get that they’re Kate Spade, but who on this bloody Earth would even attempt to steal my pink pumps?! I swear to God, they better be returned right now or I am going to rip someone limb from limb.”
““i don’t care that it’s 2 a.m. we need pie.”
“Well, obviously,” Gemma rolled her eyes. “Pie is more important than beauty sleep. Do you want to go out or should we make it ourselves? I must say, I can whip up a delightful raspberry pie.”
Ryan would be lying if he said he was disappointed that he was not casted. He had auditioned for jokes and giggles but the eight year old in him wanted to be Jafar so badly. As pouty as he was for the evening, he wasn’t the type of person to let it bother him for too long. It was just a silly job after all and he currently had what he would consider the easiest one at Disney. Besides, he couldn’t be upset when one of his favorite people had been casted. Gemma being that person. He was quite fond of her and that was enough to restore his mood to its usual chiperness. Ryan jumped at a chance to hang out with Gemma, shooting back a confirmation text at her offer. Later on, Ryan headed to Gemma’s apartment with a small back of snacks and caffeine in tow. “Princess Gemma, it’s me. The lowly peasant Hernandez.” He called with a laugh and knocked again on her door.
Gemma let out a laugh as she jumped from the couch and swung open the door to welcome her favorite Spaniard. She reached out and cupped his cheeks with her hands, but even then she was a whole foot shorter than him so she had to stand slightly on her tiptoes. “No, Hernandez, you could never be a peasant to me. Join me in this castle, we have wine,” she laughed, turning around and throwing herself back on the futon. She sat up and made room for her friend, her smile radiant as ever. “Seriously, there’s more than enough room. We can share this two-hundred-pound throne. It’s kind of squeaky and also not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it’s more comfortable than the iron throne, I can promise that,” she chuckled.
Gemma’s ego had been fed, and nothing made the girl giddier. She was ready to play nice with just about anyone, which was saying something for her. After receiving the news about her casting, Gemma had treated herself to some of her nicest wine before texting a random number in her contacts list and asking if they’d like to come over to watch a few movies (Tangled and Sleeping Beauty, of course). She’d already forgotten she’d even contacted someone by the time there was a knock on her door. “The princess is in, what do you want?” she called out, still laying on her futon with a grin.
Kailey nodded, trying again. “Okay. Okay I’ll try.” She paused a bit before looking over her shoulder, winking playfully at the boy, then turning back to Gemma. “So….there was that. What do I do if he comes and talks to me?” God forbid someone came and talked to her.
Gemma actually chuckled aloud to that one. “You talk to him, duh! It’s not rocket science, love. If you’re interested in more than just talking then you can find a way to get yourself closer to him. Look at his lips when he’s talking if you want him to kiss you. If he wants to grind... well, I suppose that’s off the table if he’s already seen your dancing skills. Don’t worry, Kay. Can I call you that? It’ll be fine. You’ll be brilliant.”
Liam narrows his eyes as he studies the redhead, “Is that a threat, Gemma?” he asks, pretending to be shocked. He’s not afraid of the girl, so he’s going to joke around- maybe tease her a little. “They were little demons,” he explains, “I had several drinks dumped over my head.”
Gemma could barely contain an eyeroll. “It’s whatever your darling little mind takes it as,” she smiled sweetly, but her words were laced with sarcasm. Of course it was a threat, well, kind of. She didn’t know if or how she’d act on it if given the chance. “At least you get a cool down. Do you have any idea how miserable it is to wear a giant fur suit in the Florida sun? Not fun.”
We are going to make a wonderful team, King. You and I shall conquer the creative world. They won’t know what hit them. Oh, trust me. I’m talented. I don’t like to toot my own horn often but with this I do. A lot of the time I get different merchandises like shoes or clothes or a watch. It all depends on what client. Once someone offered me a car but my father taught me to be a little more humble than that. I’m just kidding about that part! Sometimes I’m a little too nice, I guess, and I’m sure if I was a doctor that wouln’t be a good thing. You do have a very nice arse, Gemma. I will do it, if it’s the last thing I accomplish!
Conquer, that’s exactly the word I’d use. We’ll come out of nowhere, sweep the nation, and the next thing we know we’ll be ruling at the top. Look at you, all confident. You know, self-confidence is absolutely key in an industry like ours. I’m jealous. I sometimes get bouquets, but usually people ask me for things rather than give them to me. Like my autograph. God, I’m lucky to have Chip to teach me how to sign a name five billion times in an single day. It could come in handy in the future when I’m signing my own name. You know, Hernandez, I’d probably keep you around just to satisfy my ego. Luckily you’ve got plenty more going for you than just your brilliant flattery.
Kailey nodded as Gemma spoke, continuing with her more subtle dance moves that– apparently– were doing good for her. She glanced over her shoulder slightly, smiled at the boy, then turned back. She took a deep breath, trying to keep it subtle. “Tell me if this is shit.” she said, her voice obviously anxious. She did her best wink in Gemma’s direction, waiting for review like her roommate was her teacher.
Kailey was clearly, very clearly, a party newbie. It seemed like she was probably an everything newbie. Gemma thought so, at least. Maybe this guy was one too, maybe he was blind, or, hey, maybe he had a thing for prudes like Gemma’s roommate. Gemma watched Kailey’s wink and nodded. “Good. Maybe a bit more subtle. You don’t want to make it look like a pirate took out your eye, love.”
“Because.. common courtesy, really. I mean, you bumped into me and didn’t even apologize…”
“Do people really give that much of a shit about manners here?” Gemma chuckled to herself before delivering some lines that dripped with sarcasm. “Fine. I’m sorry. Happy?”
Ash bit down hard on her lip to keep herself from making a comment. She didn’t care about this girl and her ridiculous bragging. Honestly, the way she was feeling lately, she wanted to sideline the film for a bit, but she didn’t want to do that to Noah. “Your character gets locked in the restaurant on the second night where you meet the security guard. That would be Noah’s character. Also, you die at the end.”
She noticed Ashton hold something back. Holding her tongue didn’t seem like something Ashton would do at all. Of course, Gemma could care less. “Noah, I don’t think I’ve met him yet. What park does he work in?” Gemma asked. “Sounds fine. Dying scenes are always fun. I’ll read over the script and hopefully by the next time we meet I’ll have it ready to go.”
“I don’t care what they say, I will not go back to Chip and Dale,” Liam mumbles as he runs his fingers through his hair. “Though stupid chipmunks made my day a living hell,” he explains as he sinks into a chair. “I get that I’m a character attendant, but I am pretty sure that doesn’t mean I’m there for them to harrass all day.”
“You’re lucky I’m not friends with one of them today,” Gemma shot back. If she’d have been wearing the costume today and said these things, he would’ve seen a much different side of her. Luckily it was her day off. “You’re right, though, the girls that are friends with them right now are a mess. Sorry you had to deal with them.”
“Maybe you should try wearing more comfortable shoes and that wouldn’t be an issue.”
Gemma stood up after adjusting her footwear and turned to face the other redhead. “Sorry, love, I'm a dancer, there’s no saving my feet no matter what kind of shoes I wear.”
Ash secured the lock on the door behind her before she passed the girl and went into the kitchen, wishing she hadn’t invited her in, in the first place. As she went about making tea for both of them, she shrugged a bit. “I don’t necessarily expect you to be completely off book at all. It’s a film, not a play. The script will always be available to you.” After a pause, she sighed. “How long would it take you to memorize? Two weeks?”
“Two weeks? If it’s under an hour try four days. Anything more than that I could finish in a week,” Gemma said. It could be considered boasting, but at least she was honest. “Is there anything you want me to know about my character or the plot before I start reading?”
“I don’t exactly think it’s unreasonable to ask you to get out of the way when you’re blocking the sidewalk.”
“And I don’t find anything unreasonable about waiting a bloody minute for me to fix my shoe inserts.”
“Oh good. Hello Gemma.” Pausing, Ash did her best to look… if not pleasant at least not rude. “Do come on, have a cup of tea. I have the script finished. I’ve already filmed a bit with Noah.”
“Hello,” Gemma greeted back out of courtesy. She passed by Ash as she was invited into the tiny room. She kept a pokerface as she silently judged Ash’s living quarters. “Breakfast tea would be nice, yes.” Her eyebrows raised as she learned that filming had already started. “When do you want me memorized by?”
