coming to terms with and accepting your illnesses is good and healthy it does not mean youâre âgiving inâ or âletting them winâ
also: there are no medals for getting off your meds, stopping therapy or no longer needing regular appointments.
You are not weak for needing ongoing treatment. Accepting your condition and getting the help you need is HARD but itâs a massive achievement and you should be proud. You got this.
You are worthy of love, remember that âĽ
I started playing Overwatch.
I suck at it
At age 23, Tina Fey was working at a YMCA. At age 23, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job. At age 24, Stephen King was working as a janitor and living in a trailer.Â
At age 27, Vincent Van Gogh failed as a missionary and decided to go to art school. Â At age 28, J.K. Rowling was a suicidal single parent living on welfare.
At age 28, Wayne Coyne ( from The Flaming Lips) was a fry cook. At age 30, Harrison Ford was a carpenter. At age 30, Martha Stewart was a stockbroker. At age 37, Ang Lee was a stay-at-home-dad working odd jobs. Julia Child released her first cookbook at age 39, and got her own cooking show at age 51. Vera Wang failed to make the Olympic figure skating team, didnât get the Editor-in-Chief position at Vogue, and designed her first dress at age 40. Stan Lee didnât release his first big comic book until he was 40. Alan Rickman gave up his graphic design career and landed his first movie role at age 42. Samuel L. Jackson didnât get his first major movie role until he was 46.
Morgan Freeman landed his first major movie role at age 52. Kathryn Bigelow won the Academy Award for Best Director when she made The Hurt Locker at age 57. Grandma Moses didnât begin her painting career until age 76. Louise Bourgeois didnât become a famous artist until she was 78. Whatever your dream is, it is not too late to achieve it. You arenât a failure because you havenât found fame and fortune by the age of 21. Hell, itâs okay if you donât even know what your dream is yet. Even if youâre flipping burgers, waiting tables or answering phones today, you never know where youâll end up tomorrow. Never tell yourself youâre too old to make it.Â
Never tell yourself you missed your chance.Â
Never tell yourself that you arenât good enough.Â
You can do it. Whatever it is.Â
Holy shit this is inspiring

Not medically transitioning doesnât make a transgender person a âfakerâ or a âtranstrenderâ or âbasically cisâÂ
Trans people who have a medical condition that prevents them from medically transitioning in the way that theyâd like to are valid
Trans people who are unable to afford access to medical transitioning are valid
Trans people who are minors and have parents who prevent them from medically transitioning are valid
Trans people who are waiting to medically transition for any reason are valid
Trans people who arenât comfortable with the end results of certain surgeries and would rather not do them are valid
Trans people who are mentally ill and therefore unable to access transitioning because they canât get a letter in support of them and their mental health are valid
Trans people would rather not go through the whole process of getting surgery and going through the recovery are valid
Trans people who canât afford to take time off from work to get surgery are valid
Trans people who are comfortable with their bodies because their bodies are their bodies even if most people of their gender have a different body are valid
Trans people who donât want to change their bodies are valid no matter what their reason is
Trans people who donât plan on ever medically transitioning are valid
Trans people who arenât able to medically transition right now but plan on medically transitioning one day are valid
Transgender people who havenât medically transitioned arenât âless transâ than trans people who are on hormones and have had surgery
Its okay to be taking baby steps towards a better you. Forgive yourself when youâre not doing 100%, its important to be gentle with yourself. Small progress is still progress, youâre going to be just fine sweet pea đ¸

Real Live Trans Adults
After Leelah Alcornâs suicide, Oakland-based comedian Red Durkin started the hashtag #RealLiveTransAdult (top image above) to show transgender people afraid of coming out that there is hope and an abundance of possibilities.
Hundreds went online to share their stories (above). This is no longer news, but these tweets are so powerful and the message so important, Iâll share them anyway.
My dear lgbt+ kids.Â
For any of you struggling with doubts like âIs being lgbt+ unnatural? Is lgbt+ something humans made up but nature didnât intend?â (or those of you who hear these things from other people), let me introduce you to a couple.Â
Theyâre called Andrew and Patrick. They are gay. Theyâre as good as married, spending each day together, protecting each other, helping each other through hard times (Andrew even saved Patricks life). They love running together and relaxing in the sun together.Â
They are, hundert percent, a normal and wonderful part of nature. How do i know so?Â
Well, because they are not humans. Theyâre horses.Â
Like dogs, swans, penguins, dolphins, elephants, lions, sheep or even bed bugs, horses can be gay. A 2006 study shows that 1500 animal species have been documented engaging in same-sex behavior and unlike some people believe, itâs not only about sexual activity. Just like Andrew and Patrick, many gay animal couples bond for life or even raise offspring together - just like many human gay couples, too.Â
There are transgender and intersex bears found in nature.Â
It isnât all about a lack of partners to choose from, either: A zoo in Germany attempted to break up a male gay penguin couple by providing them with more female companions - and was unsuccessful because they were (duh) not interested in any females (in other words, gay penguins are having none of that heteronormative crap).Â
Next time someone tries to make you feel bad about being âunnaturalâ, think about Andrew and Patrick, about the transgender bears or the gay penguins: Theyâre not lgbt+ because they âwant to be specialâ or because theyâve seen âtoo many gays on tvâ. They donât even know what lgbt+ means.Â
They are just being their natural, normal selves. Â
With all my love,Â
Your Tumblr MomÂ
